Exclusive: Phoebe Burgess and Hannah Ferrier have copped more than their fair share of unflattering headlines<\/a> over the last decade, from tabloid spin about Burgess\u2019 divorce to social media furore over Ferrier\u2019s Below Deck exit. <\/p>\n

The upside now is that they don\u2019t much care if their new podcast (Over)Share<\/a> invites more criticism when they spill on family, sex and dating.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019ve said the word sex more than I\u2019ve thought about the action of it in a very long time. It\u2019s been almost a decade<\/a> for me,\u201d Burgess told nine.com.au.<\/p>\n

\u201cDating, f–king hell, terrifying. Haven\u2019t done it yet, but we\u2019re on the precipice.\u201d<\/p>\n

These the kind of confessions she\u2019s saved for private girls\u2019 group chats for the last few years, but she\u2019s finally ready to start baring it all with Ferrier in an ARN podcast studio decked out in pink.<\/p>\n

The Below Deck Mediterranean alum<\/a> won\u2019t be holding back either.<\/p>\n

A self-confessed oversharer, the only thing that will keep her from spilling her guts about every intimate detail of her life is fiercely private husband Josh Roberts.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s so private, in fact, that in the early years of their romance Reddit users spun a conspiracy theory that he didn\u2019t even exist \u2013 even after he and Ferrier welcomed their first child, Ava.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were engaged, we\u2019d already had our daughter, and he\u2019d still never allowed me to post a photo or be on an Instagram story, and the rumour mill was swirling something chronic,\u201d Ferrier told nine.com.au.<\/p>\n

\u201cI ended up having to go like … \u2018You may as well just let it happen, and then there won\u2019t be rumours about me getting artificially inseminated and you not existing.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Roberts has learned to compromise on that front in the fours years they\u2019ve been married, Ferrier and Burgess\u2019 new podcast may test him again.<\/p>\n

Both women, who only met six weeks ago, insist nothing is off-limits on (Over)Share \u2013 including Burgess\u2019 experiences of divorce.<\/a><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a topic the former journalist has been reticent to touch in the seven years since she and ex-husband Sam Burgess split for good. Now she\u2019s ready to talk.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s had an impact on my career, my children, myself, my family, how I work, where I work, what I can say, what I don\u2019t say. Financially, it\u2019s had an enormous impact,\u201d Burgess said of her 2019 divorce.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be honest. I could say, \u2018It just doesn\u2019t affect me, I really don\u2019t think about it that often.\u2019 No one would believe that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burgess wants to talk about it now, not just for herself but for other women in the same position. <\/p>\n

Even now, strangers still approach her to ask for advice or a kind word about their own divorces.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll have women who I\u2019ve just met asking me what I did at what point, how I got through it, what we do for our kids,\u201d Burgess said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not the only one who\u2019s been divorced, or been cheated, on or ended up parenting alone when you had a vision of what the future looked like.\u201d<\/p>\n

Solo motherhood is another hot button topic she hopes to tackle now that she\u2019s starting to get a grip on it herself, though that grip can be tenuous at times.<\/p>\n

Online, Burgess looks like an effortlessly cool and fashionable mum but the reality of her life in Southern Highlands with her parents and two children \u2013 Poppy, nine, and Billy, seven \u2013 is very different.<\/p>\n

When asked how she juggles it all, she\u2019s honest.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a juggle [because] nothing\u2019s in the air. Everything\u2019s smashed and f–king on the ground, and I\u2019m always cleaning up mess,\u201d Burgess said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019m fumbling around in the dark most days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adding dating into the mix seems unthinkable, but there\u2019s a part of her that wonders.<\/p>\n

Burgess doesn\u2019t know her way around dating apps and admitted she\u2019d probably judge anyone who read her bio and actually wanted to go on a date.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got no idea how you charm someone and fall in love when you\u2019ve got to say, \u2018Sorry, I\u2019m only available one day this month because of Billy, Poppy and the constant nature of parenting,\u2019\u201d she said, adding that the kids will always be her top priority.<\/p>\n

Burgess doesn\u2019t feel like anything is missing from her life; she gets an abundance of love from her children, and endless support from her parents and friends.<\/p>\n

Still, it would be nice to fall in love again, especially after getting a peek into Ferrier\u2019s marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI miss having, I think, a partner in life or a best friend to go over things with. That would be nice, to have that a close relationship again,\u201d Burgess said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I don\u2019t think I\u2019d ever risk the freedom that I found being on my own with the kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferrier is facing very different problem with the podcast.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s had to prepare her husband for when she inevitably lets something slip he\u2019d prefer not to share with hundreds of thousands of strangers, like calling her mother-in-law \u201cincredibly difficult\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve already pre-warned him that there will be a time when I say something that he\u2019s not going to be happy with, but he\u2019s going to have to get over it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Back then, Ferrier was starring on Bravo\u2019s reality TV series Below Deck Mediterranean, but her time on the show ended abruptly in 2020 when she was fired for having unregistered Valium and a vape on board.<\/p>\n

She doesn\u2019t love how things ended, but that doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019ll be using the podcast as an opportunity to \u201ctalk smack\u201d about the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t even know contractually where I\u2019m at, but you know, it\u2019s very hard for them to sue me when I\u2019m over here,\u201d Ferrier joked.<\/p>\n

Sobering, she added that there\u2019s a common misconception that she\u2019s angry or resentful about how her time on the show ended, but the truth is she\u2019s grateful for the platform it gave her.<\/p>\n

And if anyone wants to take the secrets she and Burgess spill on (Over)Share in bad faith, that\u2019s fine. They\u2019re used to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just spent so many years dealing with it, especially on Instagram and social media, so I\u2019m a bit numb to it now,\u201d Ferrier said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world\u2019s in a very weird place, and to me if you\u2019re worried about something that we\u2019re saying on a podcast, you probably have too much time on your hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
