You’d see someone work on something in player development, pull it off in a game, and everyone on the bench would be up – coaches included.

“(Head coach) Sonia (Raman) set the tone with that ‘Play with Joy’ message. From day one, she wanted to lay the foundation and create a culture for Seattle basketball. The way we stuck together this year – she has her fingerprints all over that.

“She’s a really smart person. She loves numbers, and as someone who didn’t go to college and doesn’t love school, I was pretty overwhelmed by the numbers at the start. But I learned the analytical side of the game through her lens.

“You could see her growth throughout the season, too. We were executing plays beautifully out of timeouts. Her growth, like everyone else’s on this team, was huge.

“I really enjoyed learning from her.”

Melbourne is expected to arrive in Bendigo within the next 10 days to start preparing for WNBL27 alongside Australian Opals teammate Isobel Borlase.

The Spirit face Melbourne’s former club, UC Capitals, in Canberra on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 3pm (AEDT).

Every game Jade Melbourne played in the 2026 WNBA season, in order, for the Seattle Storm. She turned 9.1 points, 3.7 assists and 24.5 minutes a game into the best season of her career, in the worst season the club has had. Her best night was 23 points against the Portland Fire on 8 August. A dash in a percentage column means she did not shoot, not that she missed.

How this was checked, and what the numbers do and do not show

Every row was reconciled before it was published. Her points are rebuilt from the shooting line, offensive and defensive rebounds are added back to the rebound total, every published percentage is checked against the makes and attempts beside it, and each win or loss is checked against the scoreline. All forty-two rows agree, and the season figures worked out from them match the competition’s own published season line on every field. Season percentages come from her totals, not from averaging the per-game figures, which would give a different and wrong answer.
Starting made almost no difference, and that is the finding. She started 32 games and came off the bench in ten, and her role changed four times across the year (3 off the bench, 7 starts, 5 off the bench, 25 starts, 2 off the bench). Started she averaged 9.3 points on 43.4% shooting; off the bench 8.3 on 42.9%. Her three-point shooting was actually better in the bench games, 38.1% against 29.1%. The buttons above will split the table either way, but the honest reading is that the role moved and the player did not.
Her best stretch was August – 12.1 points in 28.3 minutes across 9 games, both season highs by month.
Two games missing, and one long gap that is not hers. She played 42 of Seattle’s 44 games, missing 23 June and 18 September; no reason for either is published here because the record does not give one. The three-week hole in the middle of September is the league’s, not hers: the competition did not play between 31 August and 16 September, the World Cup window, and she was in Germany for it with the Opals. Her three games after it read 3.3 points on 13 shots, which is far too small a sample to draw anything from, and nothing is drawn from it.
Reading the table. Columns are grouped for a phone – the basics first, then shooting, then the rest. Tap a heading to sort. The bottom row is her season total and stays put whichever way you sort.

[574
64,63,726,85
post-906786","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-basketball","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-basketball","tag-sports
["GET
