Over the course of this week, The New York Times<\/a> has been rolling out a list of the Top 100 best TV series of the 21st century.<\/p>\n

The list is a massive poll of \u201cmore than 500 stars, showrunners and other TV insiders\u201d. It skews heavily American, and the usual suspects are all here, along with some rather left-field choices at times.<\/p>\n

As \u201cThe Sopranos\u201d debuted in the late 1990s, it\u2019s not included, which means the Top 3 are what you expect \u2013 \u201cBreaking Bad,\u201d \u201cThe Wire\u201d and \u201cMad Men\u201d. Also making the Top 10 were \u201cSuccession,\u201d \u201cFleabag,\u201d \u201cGame of Thrones,\u201d \u201cVeep,\u201d \u201c30 Rock,\u201d \u201cCurb Your Enthusiasm\u201d and \u201cAtlanta\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the mix, there are some great shows from \u201cAndor\u201d and \u201cChernobyl,\u201d to \u201cDeadwood,\u201d \u201cBattlestar Galactica,\u201d \u201cThe Pitt\u201d and \u201cSeverance\u201d. But the list has also already stirred debate \u2013 \u201cThe Shield\u201d down at 70 and \u201cJustified\u201d at 83, but \u201cThe White Lotus\u201d and \u201cThe Comeback\u201d in the high 20s?<\/p>\n

At the same time, there are some glaring omissions \u2013 not even making the Top 100? The likes of \u201cMindhunter,\u201d \u201cHannibal,\u201d \u201cThe Expanse,\u201d \u201cState of Play\u201d (UK), \u201cInterview with the Vampire,\u201d \u201cThe Fall,\u201d \u201cCrashing\u201d (UK), \u201cFargo,\u201d \u201cLine of Duty,\u201d \u201cLife on Mars,\u201d \u201cBig Boys,\u201d \u201cArcane,\u201d \u201cThe Last of Us,\u201d \u201cThe Killing (Forbrydelsen)\u201d, \u201cSons of Anarchy,\u201d \u201cFor All Mankind,\u201d \u201cThe Good Fight,\u201d \u201cThe IT Crowd,\u201d \u201cRectify,\u201d \u201cWhat We Do in the Shadows,\u201d \u201cBroadchurch,\u201d \u201cDark,\u201d \u201cSex Education,\u201d \u201cAmerican Crime Story,\u201d \u201cMr. Robot,\u201d \u201cThe Knick,\u201d \u201cThe Terror\u201d first season, \u201cHappy Endings,\u201d \u201cThe Haunting of Hill House,\u201d \u201cAvatar: The Last Airbender,\u201d \u201cFlight of the Conchords\u201d and so much more.<\/p>\n
