\n\tSuperman and Batman<\/a> might be one of the DC Universe\u2019s most famous partnerships, but Robert Pattinson<\/a> is officially ending speculation that his take on Bruce Wayne would fit in the cinematic world created by James Gunn.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world,\u201d Pattinson told LADbible<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s one of the only characters, I guess, because of the length of the shoots, but also it\u2019s such a specific kind of [style]; the tone of it gets inside you. I remember that happened to me the last time I did it, it took a while. You\u2019re just in the dark the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can\u2019t see anything for like months. It does affect you, like you feel strange afterwards.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAudiences were first introduced to Matt Reeves\u2019 \u201cThe Batman\u201d in 2022, which offered a distinctly darker take on the comic book character than previous films. \u201cWhere do you go after \u2018The Dark Knight\u2019? Ben Affleck blew it, and even Christopher Nolan, who brought unprecedented levels of realism and gravitas to that franchise-best Batman saga, couldn\u2019t improve on what he\u2019d created in his 2012 sequel,\u201d wrote Variety\u2019s Peter Debruge in his review <\/a>of the film. \u201cSo what is \u2018Cloverfield\u2019 director Matt Reeves<\/a>\u2019 strategy? Answer: Go darker than \u2018The Dark Knight,\u2019 deadlier than \u2018No Time to Die\u2019 and longer than \u2018Dune\u2019 with a serious-minded Batman stand-alone of his own.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBy contrast, Gunn\u2019s \u201cSuperman,\u201d released in 2025, was a lighter take on the character. Variety\u2019s Owen Gleiberman wrote<\/a> that \u201cthe new movie isn\u2019t \u2018dark\u2019 (Zack Snyder\u2019s ambitious mistake) so much as it\u2019s a loopy, spinning, multifaceted story with genuine emotional stakes.\u201d<\/p>\n
