Being old school, a gamer is a gamer, whether you\u2019re on a phone, an Xbox, or a PC, so let\u2019s see if Razer\u2019s Prio Pocket Sized Controller can give mobile gamers the love they deserve from this entry-point mobile controller.<\/p>\n

Opening the box, you\u2019ll find the Razer Prio: Pocket Sized Controller, manual, and the standard Razer sticker set. It measures 10.1cm x 6.7cm and weighs 101 grams. The two plates feel quite rigid; they are smooth with no texturing. The joysticks, buttons, and D-pad feel like most Razer controllers, solid and well-built.<\/p>\n

The buttons are set down from the top of the frame, which, for people like me with big fingers, means you can feel the edge of the other X, Y, B, A button when you press one.<\/p>\n

The rubber strap on the back is thick and feels quite rigid, with a little play since it is new, but I am worried that over time and with constant use it could become brittle.<\/p>\n

The Razer Prio: Pocket Sized Controller<\/a> gives you a full-size controller once connected to your device. Your movement and interactions are covered off with two thumbsticks, which are drift-resistant, one on each side, the classic Razer tactile 4-way D-pad, dual bumpers and triggers, your standard cluster of four buttons, and then an additional four menu buttons consisting of two on each side.<\/p>\n

The cream on top is that these buttons are near-silent tactile face buttons; playing in bed, you won\u2019t disturb anyone; sneaking away in the office, they won\u2019t hear you; or even on public transport, you won\u2019t upset anyone.<\/p>\n

Another point to mention: there is no charging and no battery; this device is straight plug-and-play. It is compatible with devices up to 7 inches. The Razer Prio: Pocket Sized Controller is also designed so that, in most cases, you don\u2019t have to remove your phone case, which is a neat feature. I personally have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and left the case on, as I have quite a thick case, having kids, and using it for work with no issues.<\/p>\n

Once connected to your phone, you will be prompted to install the Cortex Mobile app, which is straightforward. The Cortex Mobile app is essentially a game launcher that gives you access to 1000\u2019s of games by pressing the Razer Cortex button on the right side of the controller.<\/p>\n

You can also map existing games to this hub by pressing the button when you are in your existing games. The app also lets you remap keys, which is handy when you are playing mobile games.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Razer Prio: Pocket Size Controller<\/a> is a handy little piece of kit for mobile gamers. Because of its size, lack of a battery, and ability to connect to phones with the case still on, it really epitomises portability. Paired with the Cortex Mobile app, you can get endless hours of gaming on a compatible device.<\/p>\n

My kids laughed at the idea when I brought it home and showed it to them in the box, but once I connected it to one of the phones, I haven\u2019t seen it since, and they love it.<\/p>\n

That might be the point: don\u2019t knock it until you try it, as you might just fall in love with the Razer Prio: Pocket Size Controller, a piece of equipment you never knew you needed, but once you have it, you can\u2019t do without it.<\/p>\n
