Here is what’s happening on TV from Sunday, September 27 to Saturday, October 3. All times are Eastern.
Futurama (Hulu, Monday, season 11 finale) The 180th episode of the animated sci-fi sitcom—which centers on a childhood flashback of Fry (Billy West) and his brother Yancy (Tom Kenny) sneaking into a PG-13 movie as kids, an event that triggers “shocking consequences for the future”—was reportedly penned as a potential series finale for the long-running show. But Hulu has already greenlit Futurama’s future: Rather than a standard 10-episode block for season 15, the show will come back as three hourlong streaming specials (dubbed “XXXL-Sized”), which will kick off in 2027 with an Xmas-related edition.

War (HBO and HBO Max, Thursday, 9 p.m., series premiere) This HBO legal anthology from George Kay (Lupin, Criminal) was ordered upfront as a two-season package, so a follow-up featuring Marissa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood is already in the works. Before all that, though, we have to meet Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, two rival London law firms clashing over the high-stakes, headline-dominating divorce between British tech entrepreneur Morgan Henderson (Dominic West) and his film-star wife Carla Duval (Sienna Miller). The case draws young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren (Archie Renaux) into a ruthless world where ambition and betrayal reign supreme. Read The A.V. Club’s take on the new drama later this week.

East Of Eden (Netflix, Thursday, series premiere) The 1952 Steinbeck classic gets a fresh interpretation with this Zoe Kazan-directed miniseries. (Elia Kazan, her grandfather, famously directed the James Dean-led 1955 adaptation.) Florence Pugh is our antihero Cathy Ames, a fiercely independent young woman whose life gets inextricably entangled with those of the Trask brothers, Adam (Christopher Abbott) and Charles (Mike Faist). Unlike other versions, the seven-part limited series will cover the entire three-generational scope of Steinbeck’s masterpiece, with Joseph Zada and Joe Anders playing twin Trask sons Cal and Aron. The A.V. Club’s review will drop on Thursday.

Tip Toe (Starz, Friday, 9:05 p.m., series premiere) Alan Cumming and David Morrissey lead this five-part queer thriller series, created and written by Russell T Davies (Queer As Folk, Doctor Who). The British import centers on two next-door neighbors living in suburban Manchester—lively gay-bar owner Leo Struthers (Cumming) and stern electrician Clive (Morrissey)—whose decade-plus cordiality soon dangerously spirals into radicalized opinions, social tensions and escalating violence. Jackson Connor, Elizabeth Berrington, Denise Welch, Iz Hesketh, Shakeel Kimotho, and Paul Rhys also star.

Also arriving

2026 MTV Video Music Awards (CBS and MTV, Sunday, 7:30 p.m., standalone special)
The Simpsons (Fox, Sunday, 8 p.m., season 38 premiere)
Sacrifice (Paramount+, Wednesday, season two premiere)
Scrubs (ABC, Wednesday, 8 p.m., season two premiere)
The Amazing Race (CBS and Paramount+, Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., season 39 premiere)
The Sisters Grimm (Apple TV, Friday, season two premiere)
Adventure Time: Side Quests (Disney+ and Hulu, Friday, season two premiere)

Ending soon

President Curtis (Adult Swim, Sunday, 11:30 p.m., season one finale)
All American (The CW, Monday, 8 p.m., series finale)
The Creep Tapes (AMC+ and Shudder, Tuesday, season three finale)
Average Joe (Paramount+, Wednesday, season two finale)
Tyler Perry’s The Oval (Paramount+, Wednesday, series finale)
Big Brother (CBS, Thursday, 8 p.m., season 28 finale)

Welcome to What’s On, our weekly roundup of notable shows.
