\n\tChris Evans<\/a> and Anthony Mackie<\/a>\u2019s bond goes beyond their shared roles as Captain America. They\u2019re also close friends, so much so that Evans gave Mackie early access to the \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d script, which is when the actor learned how he\u2019d become the superhero. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cChris Evans is somebody who I hold near and dear,\u201d Mackie said in a recent interview with Cigar Aficionado<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re at Chris\u2019 house, and because he\u2019s Captain America, he gets the [script] pages first. So he\u2019s like, \u2018Yo, did you read the new scene?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Nah, what\u2019s up?\u2019 So, he takes me down\u2026and he gave me the script and let me read it. And it was really great and really emotional to learn it from a friend\u2026I don\u2019t know a lot of actors who would have appreciated or celebrated that moment with a fellow actor in that way because I was taking his job for all intents and purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEvans first suited up as Captain America in 2011 in \u201cCaptain America: The First Avenger.\u201d Mackie took over as the titular hero after receiving the iconic shield from Evans\u2019 Captain America at the end of \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d in 2019. He led his first feature film as the superhero in 2025\u2019s \u201cCaptain America: Brave New World.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Disney and Marvel 2019 blockbuster returned to theaters on Friday with extra footage as a special theatrical re-release leading up to \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d which comes out on Dec. 18. The re-release, titled \u201cAvengers: Endgame Encore,\u201d generated $26 million domestically over the weekend and $60 million overseas for a global tally of $86 million.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was already the second-highest-grossing movie in box office history with $2.79 billion.
