{"id":908585,"date":"2026-09-28T13:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T13:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/908585\/"},"modified":"2026-09-28T13:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T13:20:09","slug":"morocco-ranks-8th-among-fastest-improving-travel-tourism-economies-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/908585\/","title":{"rendered":"Morocco Ranks 8th Among Fastest-Improving Travel, Tourism Economies in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Agadir \u2013 Morocco ranked eighth among the world\u2019s fastest-improving economies in travel and tourism development between 2024 and 2026, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/stories\/sustainable-development\/top-10-countries-for-travel-and-tourism-2026-ttdi-index\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according<\/a> to the World Economic Forum\u2019s (WEF) 2026 Travel &amp; Tourism Development Index (TTDI).<\/p>\n<p>The country improved its overall TTDI score by 5.5% over the two-year period, breaking into the top 10 economies that recorded the strongest progress in the latest edition of the index.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco also climbed seven positions to rank 70th out of 110 economies <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/09\/338547\/onmt-presents-moroccos-tourism-strategy-at-iftm-top-resa-in-paris\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">assessed<\/a> in the 2026 TTDI. Its score reached 3.84 out of seven, according to data from the latest edition.<\/p>\n<p>The improvement came against a global average increase of around 2.1%. The WEF said 101 of the 110 economies included in the 2026 index, or 92%, improved their scores between 2024 and 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco among fastest improvers<\/p>\n<p>Morocco\u2019s 5.5% improvement placed it eighth among the 10 economies with the largest increases in TTDI scores during the 2024-2026 period.<\/p>\n<p>Albania recorded the largest improvement, with its score <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/09\/338230\/onmt-targets-broader-french-market-to-boost-moroccos-tourism-appeal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">increasing<\/a> by 7%; it was followed by Vietnam at 6.3% and Laos at 6.1%. Qatar, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines also recorded increases of more than 5%.<\/p>\n<p>The WEF situated the fastest gains in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions. Average TTDI scores increased by 3.6% in Asia-Pacific and 2.5% in MENA between 2024 and 2026, it detailed.<\/p>\n<p>The Forum further identified improvements in cultural resources, tourism services and infrastructure, and tourism demand sustainability as important areas of progress in MENA.<\/p>\n<p>The TTDI report assesses 110 economies across 17 pillars <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/09\/337102\/looking-east-why-china-could-be-moroccos-next-great-tourism-opportunity\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">covering<\/a> areas including tourism infrastructure and services, air transport infrastructure, cultural and natural resources, ICT readiness, price competitiveness, safety and security, and the sustainability of tourism demand.<\/p>\n<p>The assessment does not rank countries based on tourist arrivals, tourism revenues or visitor spending.
