{"id":909707,"date":"2026-09-29T11:06:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/909707\/"},"modified":"2026-09-29T11:06:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T11:06:12","slug":"fehi-fineanganofo-makes-decision-on-all-blacks-future-ahead-of-2027-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/909707\/","title":{"rendered":"Fehi Fineanganofo makes decision on All Blacks future ahead of 2027 World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fehi Fineanganofo will delay his move to PREM Rugby side <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/newcastle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> Red Bulls until after the 2027 Rugby World Cup, after signing a new deal with the Hurricanes and New Zealand Rugby (NZR).<\/p>\n<p>The 24-year-old winger was set to join up with the Red Bulls this season after signing a two-year deal back in January, but a maiden call-up to the All Blacks squad quickly put that move into doubt. He later went onto win his first Test cap in the Nations Championship, and also featured in the Rugby\u2019s Greatest Rivalry tour.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to delay his move follows months of talks between the two parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are pleased to have reached a positive resolution for Fehi\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on re-signing with NZR and the Hurricanes, he said: \u201cI\u2019m excited to be staying in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/new-zealand\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Zealand<\/a> with the Hurricanes for next season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of what we achieved last season, and I\u2019m looking forward to helping defend the Super Rugby title while continuing to put my hand up for the All Blacks ahead of the Rugby World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really grateful to Newcastle Red Bulls for the support and understanding they\u2019ve shown me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"px-3 xs:px-4 mt-3 mb-2 font-semibold leading-snug text-base text-title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/prem-rugby-team-of-the-week-henry-pollock-caps-off-big-week-while-welshman-steal-the-show\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PREM Rugby Team of the Week: Henry Pollock caps off \u2018big week\u2019 while Welshmen \u2018steal the show\u2019 on record-breaking weekend<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity to stay in New Zealand and push for selection for the Rugby World Cup means a huge amount, and I\u2019m fully committed to joining the club after the tournament and giving everything I can to the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NZR general manager of professional rugby relationships, Simon Simmers, added: \u201cWe are pleased to have reached a positive resolution for Fehi and look forward to seeing him continue playing his rugby in New Zealand through 2027 and chasing his dream of playing at a Rugby World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also commenting, Hurricanes head coach, Clark Laidlaw, said: \u201cIt\u2019s great news for the Hurricanes that Fehi will be in New Zealand for another season. The opportunity for him to play for us in 2027 is something we\u2019re really excited about. He has obviously had an amazing season in 2026 by winning Super Rugby Pacific, breaking the try-scoring record, and being selected for the All Blacks.<\/p>\n<p>Want more from Planet Rugby?
