Aston Martin will race an unchanged line-up in 2027 with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll extending their long-term contracts with the British team.<\/p>\n
While Stroll<\/a> had been expected to stay on for a ninth season, Alonso<\/a>‘s future was less certain given the team’s poor performance so far this year.<\/p>\n But ahead of this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia<\/a>, Aston Martin<\/a> \u2013 who sit 10th in the Teams’ Championship<\/a> \u2013 moved to confirm their line-up.<\/p>\n This will be Alonso and Stroll’s fifth campaign as a partnership \u2013 and with 644 starts between them, they form the most experienced line-up on the grid.<\/p>\n Alonso said: \u201cI’m very happy to sign a new contract with Aston Martin. I took my time to make this decision, but racing is my life, my passion, and I know I still have the speed and determination to compete at the highest level.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m committed for the long term with this team and to helping us succeed. I truly believe in what we are building: we have strong leadership, incredible people, partners and facilities.<\/p>\n \u201cI look forward to making more memories on the race track in front of the passionate fans. Their energy creates an atmosphere that inspires me and is what makes our sport special.\u201d<\/p>\n Stroll added: \u201cI\u2019m very happy to continue with Aston Martin Aramco for the long term. I\u2019ve been on this journey since the beginning and I believe we have the resources and the people to become a winning team.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is so much hard work going on at Silverstone with real progress being made, and the determination I see in every department is a huge motivation for me.<\/p>\n \u201cI know we are heading in the right direction, and my commitment is stronger than ever to help us achieve our goals.\u201d<\/p>\n Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll said: \u201cLance and Fernando have been a crucial part of our journey and we are very pleased to confirm that they will continue with us into the next chapter for the team.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving two drivers with their level of experience, commitment and knowledge provides tremendous value to the whole organisation.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are here to win, and whilst our short-term focus remains on improving performance, I believe we have the world-class talent we need to achieve our long-term objectives.\u201d<\/p>\n That leaves just four seats free on the 2027 grid.<\/p>\n Haas<\/a> are expected to announce Ollie Bearman<\/a> will stay on, with FIA Formula 2 Championship leader Rafael Camara the frontrunner to be his team mate.<\/p>\n Racing Bulls<\/a> are expected to retain Arvid Lindblad<\/a> for a second year.
