The Americans have 12 months to get their ducks in a row before they attempt to win the Ryder Cup back from the Europeans on foreign soil at Adare Manor.<\/p>\n

Team USA have not won a Ryder Cup outside of America since 1993, and incredibly, the Europeans have triumphed in 11 of the last 15 editions of the competition.<\/p>\n

The Americans\u2019 incredible performances during the Sunday singles at both the Ryder Cup<\/a> and Presidents Cup<\/a> continue to paper over the cracks.<\/p>\n

However, there are serious issues in the US set-up which need addressing urgently.<\/p>\n

Now Rich Beem<\/a> has offered his take on how he believes the United States should approach selecting their vice-captains for team events in the future.<\/p>\n

Rich Beem wants MLB legend to be USA\u2019s Ryder Cup vice-captain in 2027<\/p>\n

Next year\u2019s Ryder Cup will be a crucial one for the United States, and Beem wants to see a huge change made heading into the event.<\/p>\n

Beem suggested who he would like to see in the vice-captain role at Adare Manor next year, while speaking on the Sky Sports Golf Podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I was just thinking, somebody asked me this question. Somebody asked me, you know, \u2018who would you pick as your vice captains\u2019? I said, \u2018I\u2019d pick people outside of the game of golf\u2019,\u201c Beem said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d pick athletes, great athletes, from other walks of life. I would pick Greg Maddux. Greg Maddux is probably one of the greatest pitchers of all time.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had such a knowledge, an encyclopedic knowledge of batters and situations from years and months gone by.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would pick a guy that, that the players know, and the players respect.\u201c<\/p>\n

Who is MLB legend Greg Maddux?<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old MLB legend was born in San Angelo, Texas, in 1966.<\/p>\n

Maddux played for a variety of teams including the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers.<\/p>\n

He won the World Series with the Braves in 1995 and was the only pitcher in MLB history to win a minimum of 15 games for 17 straight seasons.<\/p>\n

Greg Maddux is 8th on the all-time career wins list with 355 to his name.<\/p>\n

He was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014 and is widely considered to be one of the greatest pitchers in MLB history.<\/p>\n
