{"id":911543,"date":"2026-09-30T23:08:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-30T23:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/911543\/"},"modified":"2026-09-30T23:08:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T23:08:09","slug":"joachim-ronning-directing-horror-movie-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/911543\/","title":{"rendered":"Joachim R\u00f8nning Directing Horror Movie &#8216;System&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/joachim-ronning-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_joachim-ronning-2\" data-tag=\"joachim-ronning-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joachim R\u00f8nning<\/a>, the Norwegian filmmaker most recently at the helm of Tron: Ares, has set up his next film, the horror flick <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/system\/\" id=\"auto-tag_system\" data-tag=\"system\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">System<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/spooky-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_spooky-pictures\" data-tag=\"spooky-pictures\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spooky Pictures<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/image-nation-studios\/\" id=\"auto-tag_image-nation-studios\" data-tag=\"image-nation-studios\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Image Nation Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCurrently in production in London, System\u2018s plot isn\u2019t being disclosed. Unusually, its cast will remain under wraps, as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tR\u00f8nning is directing from his own script co-written with brother Andreas R\u00f8nning. He\u2019s also producing the film via his banner The Saga Company. Under a multi-title partnership with Image Nation, Spooky Pictures\u2019 Roy Lee (Weapons, It) and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) are also producing. Image Nation Studios CEO Ben Ross (Watcher, Company) and Spooky Pictures\u2019 Rami Yasin (Hokum) are exec producing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUTA Independent Film Group arranged the financing and is repping sales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tR\u00f8nning broke out with the Academy Award-nominated Kon-Tiki, directed with Espen Sandberg, before going on to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Young Woman and the Sea \u2014 all for Disney, as was Tron: Ares. He is represented by UTA and Sloane, Offer, Weber &amp; Dern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPreviously, Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios have partnered on genre projects including Late Night with the Devil, Charlie Polinger\u2019s The Plague, Hokum starring Adam Scott, Casey Affleck\u2019s Company and Guy Nattiv\u2019s The Liberation.
