It\u2019s not something that being an Englishman you\u2019re averse to when you\u2019re over in Oz. (Photo by Ryan Pierse\/Getty Images)Source: Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Bairstow missed last summer\u2019s Ashes because he was dropped from the England Test side following their 2024 tour of India &#8211; playing his 100th and last Test in the picturesque Dharamsala.<\/p>\n<p>The right-hander played in three Ashes series in Australia before that however &#8211; facing a rampaging Mitchell Johnson during the whitewash of 2013\/14 before scoring defiant centuries at the WACA in 2017 and the SCG in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been some great battles, hasn\u2019t there, over many years, in all formats,\u201d Bairstow said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAustralian fans enjoy people that get stuck in and are very passionate about playing cricket and want to win, and that\u2019s something wholeheartedly I can say that I\u2019ve done over my career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reaction from the Renegades fans I\u2019m sure will be pretty good, and by the other fans as well, there will be some fun along the way, there\u2019s bound to be, but that\u2019s part and parcel of playing as an overseas in the Big Bash.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>South Africa vs AUS: 3rd ODI Highlights | 15:33<\/p>\n<p>Bairstow has not played for England in any format since their loss to India in the semi-final of 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA.<\/p>\n<p>He has continued to ply his trade domestically for county side Yorkshire, the London Spirit in The Hundred and various other franchises in T20 leagues around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Bairstow\u2019s connection to Victorian cricket led to him joining the Renegades to fill the void left by New Zealand\u2019s Tim Seifert &#8211; who has joined the Sydney Sixers &#8211; for a maiden stint in the Big Bash.<\/p>\n<p>Bairstow signed for the Melbourne Stars in 2020, but he was recalled to England\u2019s Test squad for a tour of Sri Lanka and withdrew.<\/p>\n<p>With the Renegades leaving Marvel Stadium this season, Bairstow will finally get the chance to call the MCG home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMick Lewis (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/cricket\/classic-warnie-act-after-that-aussie-shocker-revealed-as-lid-lifted-on-chaos-odi-classic\/news-story\/4d5d21a300adef0f1f9f733d67f92e88\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">who recently spoke to foxsports.com.au about the 2006 world record ODI in South Africa<\/a>) is over at Yorkshire as our bowling coach and he\u2019s obviously got a strong affiliation with Melbourne and knows a few guys pretty well. So Clint McKay (Renegades high performance manager), who I played with when he came over to Yorkshire (in 2010), reached out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo call the MCG my home ground is great.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2013, there were (91,092) in on day one (of the Boxing Day Test).
