{"id":912305,"date":"2026-10-01T14:06:10","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/912305\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T14:06:10","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:06:10","slug":"wallabies-centre-banned-after-dangerous-tackle-on-springboks-fly-half-and-misses-all-blacks-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/912305\/","title":{"rendered":"Wallabies centre banned after dangerous tackle on Springboks fly-half and misses All Blacks Tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wallabies centre Hunter Paisami has been banned after failing to successfully appeal his initial ban for a dangerous tackle in the win over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/south-africa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">South Africa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Paisami was shown a yellow card during the latter stages of Australia\u2019s 42-38 victory over the Springboks in Perth after his dangerous tackle on fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.<\/p>\n<p>The centre\u2019s actions meant that Tom Wright\u2019s intercept try was chalked off and while the decision was sent to be reviewed by the Foul Play Review Officer, it was not disclosed whether his sanction was upgraded to a red card during the match.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Paisami banned<\/p>\n<p>However, he was cited after the match and subsequently faced a Disciplinary Committee to decide his suspension fate.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/australia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wallabies<\/a> star was initially handed a six-match suspension for his actions, which ruled him out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tournament\/international\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bledisloe Cup<\/a> Tests against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/new-zealand\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All Blacks<\/a> this month. However, in a bid to feature in those Tests, he appealed the decision but his suspension was only reduced by two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>A SANZAAR statement confirmed the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Disciplinary Committee has found Australian midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/Hunter-Paisami\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hunter Paisami<\/a> guilty of dangerous play for a contrary tackle, in breach of Law 9.13,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaisami was shown a yellow card for the dangerous play in the 76th minute and cited following the international match between Australia and South Africa at Optus Stadium, Perth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Committee determined that the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks\/matches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"my-1 text-sm font-semibold leading-snug text-title line-clamp-3 sm:mb-0 sm:text-[15px] sm:leading-5 sm:line-clamp-2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/michael-hooper-hides-referee-bias-accusation-behind-call-for-world-rugby-to-protect-andrea-piardi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Hooper hides referee bias accusation behind call for World Rugby to protect Andrea Piardi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of Paisami accepting that he committed an act of foul play, as well as mitigating factors such as his recent disciplinary record, conduct, and remorse, the Committee applied a 2 week\/match reduction on the sanction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaisami has been suspended from all forms of the game for four weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Want more from Planet Rugby?
