A rooster has interrupted Noah Kahan<\/a>\u2019s train of thought. \u201cSorry,\u201d he says, collecting himself as he inhales and glances toward the yard of the early\u00ad20th-century craftsman home in Los Angeles\u2019 West Adams neighborhood where we\u2019re sitting.<\/p>\n

Kahan is coming down from the 29-date North American leg of his The Great Divide tour that wrapped 48 hours ago \u2014 and exhaustion is, understandably, creeping in. He has three weeks off before heading overseas for 28 more dates across Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe, but he\u2019s not expecting much of a break when he makes a brief return to his very well-known home state. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be an intense time,\u201d he says, \u201cbut it\u2019ll be nice to be in Vermont.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Noah Kahan, resolutely normal 29-year-old newlywed, he has a lot of weddings to attend during the time off. As Noah Kahan, stadium-packing folk-pop sensation, he still has a few work obligations too. There\u2019s his Emmys appearance, where he sang \u201cBridge Over Troubled Water\u201d during the In Memoriam segment, followed by his annual Folk\u00a0& Fairways golf tournament and headlining concert in Vermont that benefits his mental health nonprofit, The Busyhead Project. This year, the two-day event raised $3\u00a0million, boosting the organization\u2019s total to $13\u00a0million since launching in 2023. In his last week off, as temperatures in Vermont dip into the 60s, he\u2019s hoping to bust out his fall wardrobe.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a lot of light sweaters and pants that are cool, a lot of beanies,\u201d he says, as if visualizing how cozy he will soon be. \u201cSummer has been great, but I feel like I\u2019ve been touring so much that I\u2019ve kind of missed it. And no matter where I am, it\u2019s just hot. So I\u2019m excited for it to be chilly, get all emo, nostalgic smells, stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kahan famously captures the feeling of that seasonal shift \u2014 which he dubs \u201clate-August angst\u201d \u2014 on \u201cEnd of August,\u201d the opening track of The Great Divide, his acclaimed fourth album that debuted atop the Billboard\u00a0200<\/a> following its April\u00a024 release. An arguably now more famous line comes right before that, when he declares: \u201cThe minute that September hits\/I\u2019m going off my medicine.\u201d He did not.<\/p>\n
