Ashley Tisdale and her husband are unbothered by the fallout from the actress\u2019 viral \u201ctoxic mum group\u201d article.<\/p>\n
Christopher French, who hosts the Recovering podcast, told Page Six<\/a> he is standing firm in his wife\u2019s corner after she publicly put her former friends on blast.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re doing fine,\u201d French said this week. \u201cShe\u2019s a super smart, capable person, and she knows what she\u2019s doing and that\u2019s part of what I love about her.\u201d<\/p>\n Tisdale wrote a piece for The Cut<\/a> in January, where she revealed she moved on from the \u201ctoxic\u201d mum friends she had been close to since her oldest daughter was born in 2021.<\/p>\n In the open letter to the group, Tisdale, 41, said she was done with their \u201cmean girl behaviour,\u201d claiming she had been left out of plans, among other instances of betrayal. She said she severed ties with a group text that read, \u201cThis is too high school for me.\u201d<\/p>\n French, 44, applauded his wife for how she approached the drama.<\/p>\n \u201cI will say, I have no problem supporting my wife completely in her ability to deal with her own interpersonal relationships in whatever way feels is right for her, without getting involved or feeling like I have to speak for her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s a really smart chick. She\u2019s a very capable person, which is really what made it so hard. We are very private, but in speaking to something that really matters to her.\u201d<\/p>\n Although Tisdale never confirmed her ex-friends\u2019 identities, there was much speculation that Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor were a part of the group. Duff, 38, publicly shared that her former friend wasn\u2019t painting an accurate picture.<\/p>\n \u201cIt sucks to read something that\u2019s, like, not true,\u201d Duff said of the essay on the Call Her Daddy<\/a> podcast<\/a> in February. \u201cAnd it sucks on behalf of six women in all of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n Tisdale kept a low profile following the release of her \u201cBreaking Up with my Toxic Mum Group\u201d piece, but recently stepped into the spotlight on French\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n During their conversation, Tisdale got candid about her other struggles in motherhood.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the episode, the post-partum depression stuff she\u2019s talking about, there are things that we all go through that are not logical,\u201d French, who has been proudly sober for nearly 20 years, said. \u201cWhether it\u2019s emotional stuff, or speaking about our own experiences in general. It can be really hard to know how to navigate that stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn the case of post-partum depression, she\u2019s trying to use these tools that she had built over time to deal with all of these other issues, any other issues that she has in her life \u2014 anxiety, depression, stuff like that. But the tools just aren\u2019t working, you know? It\u2019s just not logical, and so it can make it really hard, but she isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n Tisdale and French got married in 2014. They have two children together \u2014 Jupiter, 5, and Emerson, 2.<\/p>\n
