{"id":912847,"date":"2026-10-02T00:40:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/912847\/"},"modified":"2026-10-02T00:40:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-02T00:40:11","slug":"teen-dead-four-injured-in-two-car-crash-near-latrobe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/912847\/","title":{"rendered":"Teen dead, four injured in two-car crash near Latrobe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 15-year-old boy has died and four other people have been injured in a two-car crash in Tasmania\u2019s north-west overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Police believe the Devonport boy may have been driving a Holden Rodeo ute when it collided with a Mercedes-Benz on Railton Road at Latrobe shortly after 11:45pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The boy died at the scene. Two 14-year-old boys from Devonport, who were passengers in the ute, were seriously injured.<\/p>\n<p>One was flown to Launceston General Hospital by rescue helicopter, while the other was taken to the North West Regional Hospital by ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>Both are in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-78800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/zlyfxvxrzstpw7j_fxuog_jpi6g.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1024\"  \/>The crash happened near Latrobe in Tasmania\u2019s north-west. Image \/ File<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Mercedes, a 61-year-old Aberdeen man and his passenger, a 60-year-old Aberdeen woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The man was treated at the scene, while the woman was taken to the North West Regional Hospital by ambulance.<\/p>\n<p>Railton Road was closed between Frogmore Lane and River Road for about six hours while crash investigators gathered evidence.
