\u201cStar Wars\u201d has had a very mixed bag when it comes to the quality of its video game adaptations, but one new title has set an impressive record.<\/p>\n

\u201cStar Wars: Galactic Racer\u201d hits stores on Monday, and today it has been revealed that the title has racked up a highly impressive 88\/100 Metacritic score.<\/p>\n

That makes it the best-reviewed \u201cStar Wars\u201d game in over two decades and the best since \u201cKnights of the Old Republic\u201d arrived with a 94\/100 back in 2003.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a sampling of reviews:<\/p>\n

\u201cThese worlds don\u2019t just look beautiful, they\u2019re also carved up into fascinating tracks that blend tight underground corridors where cornering is a constant discussion with death, and daringly wide-open outside sections where I once got so turned around I ended up going backwards.\u201d \u2013 EuroGamer<\/a><\/p>\n

While the roguelite mechanics initially threw me for a loop when I first played the game earlier this year, after several hours with the game I can safely say they\u2019ve earned their place in the genre. \u201cStar Wars: Galactic Racer is pretty much everything it should be. Threading the needle between next-gen Burnout and Star Wars-themed racer, it \u2018s frantic, fun and incredibly enjoyable to play. The arcade-style action is a pure delight, and the run-based nature of the campaign gives it a ton of replay value\u201d \u2013 Worth Playing<\/a><\/p>\n

It follows on from the turn-based strategy game \u201cStar Wars Zero Company\u201d the other month, which also had an impressive 86\/100 score.<\/p>\n
