Notably, the provisions for partial withdrawal were simplified by merging 13 categories down to three \u2014 Essential Needs, Housing Needs and Special Circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Further, the new rules also extend the waiting period to avail early withdrawal \/ premature final <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/pf-claim-delayed-you-may-be-eligible-for-additional-interest-if-settlement-exceeds-this-period-11789373738869.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"settlement\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">settlement <\/a>of EPF from the earlier two months to 12 months; and final pension withdrawal from two months to 36 months.<\/p>\n<p>Categories for partial withdrawal, explained<\/p>\n<p>The partial provident fund advance allows members to claim non-refundable advances while actively employed. To make this claim, you will have to fill and submit Form 31. Reasons include <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/money\/personal-finance\/top-5-benefits-of-taking-personal-loan-during-medical-emergencies-interest-rates-credit-score-11732274217773.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"medical emergencies\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">medical emergencies<\/a>, daughter&#8217;s or self-marriage, home loan repayments, or severe natural calamities. Check the full list of reasons for partial withdrawal here:<\/p>\n<p>Special Circumstances: This category is in case of job loss, where you can claim up to 75% immediate withdrawal and the remaining 25% after two months of unemployment.Essential Needs: This includes medical reasons, <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/people\/noel-tata-on-rs-250-cr-investment-for-iim-bangalore-and-why-need-of-the-hour-is-primary-education-11791016772349.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"education\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">education <\/a>and marriage. The rules are as follows \u2014<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 In case of withdrawal for medical reasons, you can withdraw the employee share of your EPF corpus or six months&#8217; wages; after membership of 1 year.
