The Celebrity Traitors returned on Thursday (1 October) with its eagerly-awaited second season<\/a>, and it’s certainly been a dramatic time in the Scottish Highlands if the first two episodes are anything to go by.<\/p>\n

While actor Richard E Grant has taken the limelight with his unconventional approach to playing the game, it was a short stint for Amol Rajan as the broadcaster became the first player to be eliminated from the latest chapter of the hit BBC series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his murder by the Traitors<\/a>, the University Challenge host admitted that it was a bittersweet feeling, noting: “Honestly, there’s kind of an unhappy contrast right now, because I’m sort of grieving what might have been.<\/p>\n

“In time I know that I’ll come to look on this as honestly one of the greatest privileges of my life. In fact, I already do. What an amazing thing to do, and it was bigger, bolder, braver and brighter than it looks on TV.”<\/p>\n

With the broadcaster being murdered so early, he didn’t get the chance to participate in the iconic banishment ceremonies at the round table, though he did share that the segment in the chapel offered plenty of intensity.<\/p>\n

“In the chapel, every sensation was turned up to the absolute max,” he recalled. “I’d been on this massive rollercoaster of thinking that I was out, then thinking I was reprieved, then thinking, ‘oh wait a second, this could get complicated’.”<\/p>\n

“I know it’s such an overused word, but it is iconic. To actually be there, taking in that this is a real place, and I’m actually here \u2013 well, it’s spine tingling. Then the TV thoughts are put aside and very quickly it’s game time,” he added.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen how the rest of the highly-anticipated season will play out, though we already know that the first banishment will conclude in the next episode, which will air on Thursday (8 October)<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Despite the most recent instalment ending on a cliffhanger, some fans actually think the result of the banishment is already obvious, with some believing that Richard is almost certain to be sent home<\/a>.<\/p>\n
