The 18-year-old driver, Indika Bambrick Samarasinghe, has since been charged with multiple driving offences, including dangerous driving, negligent driving occasioning bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct.<\/p>\n
He appeared in Newcastle Bail Court on Sunday, where he did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.<\/p>\n
NSW Police said in a statement Mr Samarasinghe’s P1 Provisional licence had been suspended and the vehicle had been seized prior to undergoing forensic examination.<\/p>\n
Two other teens, present in the vehicle with Mr Samarasinghe, were unharmed, according to police.<\/p>\n
The crash injured 10 people, including a five-year-old girl who is now in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
Police said the 67-year-old man who was initially in a critical condition is currently reported to be in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
Four other people, a second five-year-old girl, a two-year-old girl, a 31-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man, remain hospitalised in stable conditions.<\/p>\n
Three men, aged 24, 25 and 27, along with a 63-year-old woman have since been discharged from hospital.<\/p>\n

They were among thousands who had lined the streets to see off the Knights team bus, which was due to pass through the area as it left for Sydney ahead of the grand final match.<\/p>\n
