MUAR, Oct 4 \u2014 French cyclist Ronan Auge has woken up from a medically induced coma and is showing promising signs of recovery after being seriously injured in a crash during the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2026 on Friday (Oct 2).<\/p>\n
Unibet Rose Rockets sports director Joram Grootveld confirmed that the 22-year-old rider is making steady progress and has already reunited with his family, who travelled from France to be by his bedside.<\/p>\n
\u201cRonan (already) woke up after the induced coma and the first signals, like we also stated on internet, look really promising.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course, he needs to recover for a long, long time. His family came over from France to visit him last night and they had a good moment together. Hopefully, he will progress during the days and weeks to follow to get back to his old self,\u201d he told reporters here today.<\/p>\n
Expressing gratitude to the medical team treating the rider, Grootveld said the regular updates have brought much-needed comfort to the squad.<\/p>\n
When asked whether Auge would be transferred back to France anytime soon, Grootveld said his condition must first be fully stable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat I don\u2019t know yet because he has some pretty big fractures,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In an update shared on their official social media account yesterday, the team confirmed that Auge was doing well and could move both his arms and legs as well as communicate.<\/p>\n
Auge had been placed in medically induced coma to stabilise his condition after the crash during Stage Six from Pandan Indah to Rembau.<\/p>\n
The cyclist was rushed to hospital immediately after the incident, with the team doctor remaining by his side around the clock while keeping the team informed of his progress.<\/p>\n
Grootveld praised the race\u2019s organisation and expressed satisfaction with his team\u2019s almost daily top-10 finishes, adding that he hopes to return for future editions.<\/p>\n
The 30th edition of LTdL concludes today with the final Stage Eight covering 188.3 kilometres from Muar to Putrajaya. \u2014 Bernama<\/p>\n
