The NFL said it is investigating a couple of exchanges between officials and players on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The league said that it is looking into an exchange between an official and Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride from Sunday’s 36-24 win for the New York Giants, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Schefter<\/a> relayed that the league is also probing an exchange that saw referee Adrian Hill being clearly angry<\/a> with Eric Wilson after the Minnesota Vikings linebacker inadvertently knocked him over.<\/p>\n Following the referee’s exchange with McBride, the NFLPA’s executive director, JC Tretter, publicly called for accountability.<\/p>\n “This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable,” Tretter said<\/a> on social media. “Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard.”<\/p>\n CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala<\/a> noted that McBride was polite when starting the exchange, even using the word “please.” She added<\/a> that the harshest thing McBride said was, “You’re ruining the game.”<\/p>\n Those two exchanges weren’t the only interactions involving an official, however.<\/p>\n New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for using some colorful language, a ruling that surprised him.<\/p>\n
