In fact, in ever single sprint stage he has been\u2013with <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/pickrell-on-langkawi-win-weve-been-so-close-we-knew-it-was-coming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four fourths and a dub<\/a>. It\u2019s been a solid week of racing for the Victoria native who rides for Modern Adventure Cycling.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 8 recap<\/p>\n<p>The Italian took Stage 8 in Putrajaya after the 188.3-km ride from Muar, beating Pickrell for the second time in three days. Christian Van Rees of Picnic PostNL was third as the main group finished in 4:06:17.<\/p>\n<p>Malucelli has been pretty impressive at this year\u2019s race, with three stage wins. (All of them with Pickrell right there. The win also secured the Sprint King blue jersey, with yup, you guessed it, Pickrell in second. After his stage win, the Canuck was just a few points behind the Italian, but the ragazzo just kept winning.<\/p>\n<p>The final stage featured plenty of early attacking, with a six-rider breakaway eventually getting clear. Oda Hijiri and Rui Udagawa of Aisan Racing, Ibai Azanza of Equipo Kern Pharma, Zeb Kyffin of TSG, Jonathan Caicedo of Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu and Peerapol Chawchiangwank built an advantage before the peloton gradually brought them back.<\/p>\n<p>Tudor Pro Cycling and Astana helped drive the chase. And once again, it was time for fast finish in Putrajaya.<\/p>\n<p>Lennart Jasch finished safely in the peloton to claim the overall title. The Tudor rider won the orange GC jersey ahead of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA\u2019s Abel Balderstone.<\/p>\n<p>Jasch also won the King of the Mountains jersey after scoring 45 points. Yuhi Todome was the best Asian rider, while Caja Rural took the overall team classification.<\/p>\n<p>Pickrell has had a great first year on George Hincapies\u2019s new American team.
