Parents have been left seeing red over an $8 children\u2019s top on shelves at Best & Less, with some even calling for a boycott. <\/p>\n
The cream-coloured T-shirt features animated tomato drawings with the text \u2018sweet cherry tomato\u2019 and \u2018snack size\u2019. <\/p>\n

For Western Sydney mum Tahnee Marie, 26, it was the slogan coupled with the cropped style that concerned her.<\/p>\n
She said the cropped style was consistent throughout the section, however the retailer has since defended its sizing. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe baby girl selection is mostly crop tops, that would be about as much coverage as a sports bra. Much shorter than the top pictured,\u201d Ms Marie told news.com.au. <\/p>\n
She expressed her concern to the staff who \u201cseemed to have the same thoughts about it that I did\u201d.<\/p>\n
The mother took a photo of the tomato top in store in the newborn size, and posted it to her local mothers\u2019 Facebook page where outrage reached boiling point. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very disappointing, and by the reaction of 99 per cent of the mums commenting on my post, I believe their [Best & Less] sales will be very low,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The parent explained in the post that the retailer sells \u201cso many beautiful little girls\u2019 clothes\u201d but purchasing the cropped style made her feel \u201codd\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to buy things, but just felt so odd about putting my little girls in crops that are literally the same size as a bra,\u201d she wrote in the post. <\/p>\n
Parents in the comments were quick to point out the item\u2019s flaws. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe \u2018snack size\u2019 is really off-putting \u2026 I wouldn\u2019t allow my kids to wear things like this, no matter how old they are,\u201d a mother wrote.<\/p>\n
Another asked: \u201cWhy are they getting approved? I would not ever put this on my daughter at any age\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crop is bad enough,\u201d a third added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really open-minded about a lot of things, but I believe babies and kids shouldn\u2019t be dressed like adults,\u201d another parent pointed out.<\/p>\n
One mum reposted the image with a very pointed message to the store, calling for a boycott. <\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the hell is this, Best & Less? Absolutely disgusting, and [it\u2019s] time we stood up to this garbage,\u201d she wrote on Facebook. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe messaging, the crop design, the placement of the cherries? No one in their right mind looked at this for toddlers and thought, \u2018yeah, this is appropriate.\u2019 I call on Best & Less to remove all stock of this immediately. We need to boycott this\u201d. <\/p>\n
Some parents failed to recognise any issue with the style or the print. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure it\u2019s like oversized look like it\u2019s not actually a cropped shirt. It covers their whole stomach; it\u2019s just like \u2018oversized cropped\u2019, but it\u2019s not actually a crop top; it covers them fully. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s that deep, personally. I mean, they are snack size,\u201d one user said. <\/p>\n
Another wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s a newborn size? I feel like on a baby it would actually not be that short? I feel like this is an over-reaction.\u201d <\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Best & Less told news.com.au that the garments are not designed as crop tops. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey feature a modern, boxy silhouette, which can appear shorter on the hanger due to the small proportions of baby clothing,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe wider shape can also exaggerate the appearance of the length. Comfort, fit and appropriate coverage are always important considerations when designing our baby ranges, and all styles are fit tested to ensure they are comfortable and provide appropriate coverage when worn.\u201d<\/p>\n
