Isaac Moreno had somewhere to be. On 8 September 2026 he outpointed Reginaldo Junior over three rounds on Dana White’s Contender Series, took the microphone and told the room he was getting married at 9:30 that night. Dana White handed him a UFC contract as a wedding present.

South Texas has been hearing “Primetime” promise a night like that for years.

The Lowdown

Unbeaten at 9-0 as a professional, with five knockouts and four decisions. American, a Welterweight, five feet ten and fighting out of Los Fresnos in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. A karate black belt long before he was a cage fighter. He owns the gym he trains at and coaches there too. Every fight before the Contender Series happened under one banner, Fury FC. The nickname is “Primetime” and he talks like it.

A Three-Year-Old in a Gi

Moreno’s father put him into martial arts at the age of three. The discipline was sport karate, the fast, in-and-out world of point fighting and continuous fighting, and the kid was good at it. When local station KRGV ran a feature on his gym, Primetime Headquarters, Moreno introduced himself as a third-degree black belt and a three-time world champion across both formats.

He grew up in Los Fresnos, a small town outside Brownsville at the southern tip of Texas, and played football for the Los Fresnos High School Falcons.

The karate never left. Moreno fights with his hands low, bouncing at the edge of range and darting in behind straight shots. It is the same point-fighting base that Stephen Thompson and Michael Page carried into the Welterweight division.

Five Amateur Fights, Five Finishes

He started in the cage as an amateur in 2019 and none of his five opponents heard a final bell. The run ended with the Fury FC amateur Welterweight title in 2020.

The professional debut came in June 2021, a second-round TKO at Fury FC 47. Then 2022 got busy. A decision over Joshua Fleck in March. In May, in front of a Valley crowd in Edinburg, Johnny Pantoja missed weight by two and a half pounds and talked about pulling out. Moreno took the fight anyway, buried a knee in his body and finished the job with ground-and-pound. RGV Sports timed the 17-second TKO of Johnny Pantoja as the shortest fight of the night. His first words afterwards were “Are you not entertained?”

That August he took a unanimous decision from Sam Kilmer, who was unbeaten at the time and later became Fury FC Welterweight champion.

“Cut the Lights”

A decision over Kenan Jackson in February 2023 made it five straight. Six weeks later Fury FC put him in the co-main event in San Antonio, the night before the UFC came to town, against the seasoned Armus Guyton. Moreno dropped him with punches and finished him on the floor at 2:35 of the first round.

Then he grabbed the microphone. He thanked his hard-working, God-fearing parents and apologised to them for the way he sometimes carries on. Then he carried on. He demanded the Welterweight strap, demanded his money and signed off with “Cut the lights, because I’m the main event!”

He was 6-0 with a highlight-reel finish and a viral promo. He did not fight again for almost 28 months.

A Torn Pec and a Gym of His Own

A torn pectoral muscle wiped out the title push. The scouts who had been tipping him for the Contender Series moved on to other names.

Moreno used the time. He opened Primetime Headquarters in Los Fresnos with his cousin Edward Puente, who had a decade of gym ownership behind him. Moreno is owner and head coach, teaching fitness and self-defence to locals while running his own camps under the same roof. He picked up a grappling win in the summer of 2024 to keep his hand in. The UFC’s own website profiled him before his comeback as a UFC Fight Pass fighter to watch.

The return came at Fury FC 106 in New Orleans on 18 July 2025. Across the cage stood Melvin Guillard, a veteran of more than 20 UFC fights. Moreno stopped him late in the second round.

Three months later he did the same to another UFC alumnus, Darian Weeks, with nine seconds left in the first. That made three knockouts in a row, two of them after the layoff.

Ten Days’ Notice in Las Vegas

The Contender Series call came roughly ten days before fight night. The opponent was Reginaldo Junior, an 11-1 Brazilian from the Fighting Nerds team riding five straight wins, most recently in LFA. Moreno had not fought in nearly 11 months and still had the weight to cut.

It was not a slugfest. Moreno won it with distance management, picking Junior off from the outside and landing the cleaner work, then had to survive submission attempts late in the third. All three judges gave him the unanimous decision.

Decisions do not always get paid on Tuesday nights at the Apex. White admitted he had to talk his own matchmakers into this one, and Cageside Press listed Moreno among the contract winners from Week 5 of Season 10.

“We’re getting married today at 9:30, right after this,” he said in the cage, inviting anyone listening. He married Luna Garcia that evening.

The Octagon Next

Moreno’s UFC debut is expected in early 2027, with no opponent named yet. Until the phone rings he is back in Los Fresnos, running classes at the gym with his nickname over the door.

Isaac Moreno MMA Record and Fighter Stats

Name
Nationality
Weight Class
Date of Birth
Height
Pro Record
UFC Record Recent Fight Record

 DateEventOpponentResultMethod

 8-Sep-26Contender Series 2026Reginaldo JuniorWUnanimous Decision

 17-Oct-25Fury FC 110Darian WeeksW1st Round KO

 18-Jul-25Fury FC 106Melvin GuillardW2nd Round TKO

 23-Mar-23Fury FC 76Armus GuytonW1st Round TKO

 5-Feb-23Fury FC 74Kenan JacksonWUnanimous Decision

👉 Explore: Fightomic Rankings | Fightomic Welterweight Rankings

Isaac Moreno had somewhere to be.
