Liam Lawson is hopeful that his performance with Red Bull earlier this year will favour him when it comes to a decision over his 2027 drive.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Lawson stood in for an injured Isack Hadjar when the sport returned from the summer break, racing in Zandvoort, Monza and Madrid for the senior squad.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
The New Zealander’s performances were a notable improvement on the difficult period he endured at the start of 2025, when he lasted just two rounds before being demoted back to the sister team.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Despite his positive campaign, Lawson’s seat is not yet guaranteed for 2027, as Formula 2 championship contender Nikola Tsolov is believed to be an option for Racing Bulls next year.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
When asked if his Red Bull stint will help his case for a 2027 drive, Lawson told media including RacingNews365: “I think potentially, just in how difficult it can be to jump into a different car.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“But outside of that, I don’t know. I think it depends on how you look at it. Honestly, I have no idea.”\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Lawson has been a frequent finisher inside the points this year, and currently sits on 65 points after 16 rounds.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
While the pecking order has evolved into a clear split between the top four and the rest of the teams, Racing Bulls’ best-case is a P5 finish in the constructors’ standings.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
Lawson insisted it remains the primary goal for the team as it looks to come out on top in the battle against Alpine.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“The first part of the year when everyone’s still funnelling themselves out, there was a case where we were quite close with them,” Lawson said.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“Over the course of a season, when the gap is as big as it is, it all eventually evens out and you see the pace.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
“For us, we would never be fighting them anyway.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
