Those close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex<\/a> have dismissed rumours claiming they were planning to apologise to the Prince and Princess of Wales<\/a> as \u201cnonsense\u201d.<\/p>\n

It follows reports in British media that Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan were hoping to make amends for comments they made to Oprah Winfrey in 2021<\/a>, a year after they quit their places as senior working royals and moved to the United States.<\/p>\n

An apology, it was claimed, was part of a wider effort by the Sussexes to reconcile with Prince William<\/a> and Catherine.<\/p>\n

Interest in the relationship between the two couples has intensified after Prince Harry and Meghan returned to Britain in August<\/a> for what has been described as an \u201cextended stay\u201d.<\/p>\n

Their children Prince Archie<\/a>, seven, and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, five, are now attending a school close to the family\u2019s new home<\/a> in the Cotswolds.<\/p>\n

Prince Harry is yet to see his father King Charles<\/a> in person since moving back, but it\u2019s speculated they could reunite before Christmas<\/a>. He and Meghan, and the children, had lunch with the monarch at Highgrove<\/a> on July 10 during their summer holiday to the UK.<\/p>\n

Harry and Meghan\u2019s return to Britain was revealed three days later and the topic was reportedly not discussed during the reunion, which was described by Buckingham Palace as a \u201cprivate\u201d occasion.<\/p>\n

However, plans for a similar reunion with Prince William and Catherine are unlikely anytime soon. The brothers remain estranged and are not believed to have spoken since around the time of Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s death in September 2022.<\/p>\n

Responding to reports Prince Harry and Meghan intended to apologise to the Wales\u2019 as part of a wider effort toward reconciliation, a source close to the Sussexes told People<\/a> such suggestions were \u201cnonsense\u201d.<\/p>\n

The reports claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were preparing to say sorry for comments they made to Winfrey in 2021, alleging the royal family was racist.<\/p>\n

In that interview, Harry and Meghan claimed there were \u201cconcerns and conversations\u201d within the royal family about how dark Prince Archie\u2019s skin might be before he was born.<\/p>\n

Two days later, Queen Elizabeth issued a statement saying \u201crecollections may vary\u201d. Later that week, Prince William was asked by a journalist \u201care you a racist family?\u201d to which he replied \u201cwe are very much not a racist family\u201d.<\/p>\n

Prince Harry later backtracked on the comments during the promotion for his memoir Spare which included no such allegations.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ITV\u2019s Tom Bradby, Harry blamed the \u201cBritish press\u201d for presenting the story in that way. <\/p>\n

In May last year, the duke told the BBC he wanted to make amends with his family.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cOf course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut, you know \u2026 I would love reconciliation with my family. There\u2019s no point in continuing to fight anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
