{"id":920177,"date":"2026-10-08T03:50:20","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T03:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/920177\/"},"modified":"2026-10-08T03:50:20","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T03:50:20","slug":"bathurst-jonathon-webb-to-race-dick-johnson-racing-supercar-chassis-for-first-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/920177\/","title":{"rendered":"Bathurst: Jonathon Webb to race Dick Johnson Racing Supercar chassis for first time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-25-Jonathon-Webb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JONATHON Webb<\/a> is a Supercars Championship race winner for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-250-Dick-Johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Johnson<\/a> Racing, but this weekend funnily enough marks the first time he will compete in a DJR-built chassis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Webb is making his now annual Bathurst Super2 cameo, this time for Anderson Motorsport who had a vacancy pop up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/best-pulls-pin-on-super2-campaign\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">following Zak Best\u2019s mid-season exit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That puts Webb aboard the Ludo Lacroix-engineered #78 Gen2 Ford Mustang that is chassis DJRS-01.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/MW-Webb-20261008_082805-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-267013\"  \/>Pic: Mark Walker<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That car, which features in V8 Sleuth\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/category\/mustang-garage\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shell V-Power Mustang Garage<\/a>, was driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-4-Will-Davison\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Davison<\/a> in the 2021-22 Supercars Championship seasons for a return of three race wins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hot on the heels of winning the 2009 Super2 title, Webb raced full-time in 2010 aboard a DJR-entered Falcon originating from Triple Eight (i.e. chassis 888A-015).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His rookie campaign was headlined by victory in arguably the most dramatic Supercars race of all-time, the 2010 Homebush affair known for the call \u201che\u2019s in the fence, they\u2019re both in the fence, they\u2019re all in the fence!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FLASHBACK: 2010 Sydney Olympic Park wet race ends in chaos | Supercars 2020<\/p>\n<p>The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship (formally Australian Touring Car Championship) is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\u2019s biggest sports.
