A class-action lawsuit against Cash App that was approved in 2025 claims that Cash App and its parent company Block “were negligent and breached” obligations to users after a former Cash App Investing employee accessed account data without permission in 2022 and an unauthorized user accessed certain Cash App accounts in 2023 using recycled phone numbers that were linked to the accounts.<\/p>\n
Current and former Cash App users whose account and personal information was obtained without consent or who experienced fraudulent withdrawals or transfers between\u00a0Aug. 23, 2018, and Aug. 20, 2024, were eligible to file a claim for part of the settlement.<\/p>\n
Users who filed a claim are expected to receive settlement payments this month.
