It\u2019s a testament to the popularity of Netflix sensation KPop Demon Hunters that parents are paying more than $50 to take their kids to watch it at the movies.<\/p>\n

The movie has been streamed more than 210 million times on Netflix and is on track to become the platform\u2019s most-watched film ever.<\/p>\n

Despite its availability on Netflix, a sing-along version of the film hit Perth cinemas this weekend to sell-out crowds.<\/p>\n

Alexandra, Olivia, and Chloe have been friends for almost their whole lives and were heading to see KPop Demon Hunters on Saturday, despite having watched it multiple times on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Luckily, the trio all have a different favourite character.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy favourite character is Zoey, and I like her fierce, sharp dance moves,\u201d Olivia said.<\/p>\n

Zoey is the lead rapper of the KPop girl group HUNTR\/X, while Rumi is the leader of the group and Chloe\u2019s favourite character, Alexandra\u2019s favourite is Mira, the lead dancer of the group.<\/p>\n

They said all the girls at school loved the movie, but it wasn\u2019t as popular amongst the boys.<\/p>\n

The girls all love the catchy songs, but weren\u2019t KPop fans before the movie came out.<\/p>\n

The song Golden from the movie has been top of the Spotify charts globally and in Australia since the start of July, songs How It\u2019s Done and What It Sounds Like sit at number nine and 10.<\/p>\n

The popularity of the movie could be attributed to the catchy songs, or the way the characters use song and dance to slay demons, or the vibrant CG animation that incorporates elements of anime.<\/p>\n

Sarah Andross owns Rollerrama in Kalamunda and recently sold out a KPop Demon Hunters event, and has almost sold out a second.<\/p>\n

\u201cI work with lots of kids on rollerblades, and they began requesting the songs about six weeks ago,\u201d Sarah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went home and watched it, I loved the vibe, the music and the story, I was actually dreaming about the songs and thought I\u2019ve got to have an event.<\/p>\n

\u201cI put the event up and boom, boom, boom, the tickets kept selling, I put 100 max and they sold out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sarah has a psychology background and thinks the movie has a positive message that kids can be who they are.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a good powerful message about standing up for yourself, there\u2019s some low level violence, but it\u2019s done really well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe songs have an uplifting theme about being yourself and not worrying what others think.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each generation there are three women who become demon hunters who seal demons behind a magical barrier called the Honmoon.<\/p>\n

This generation\u2019s demon hunters are Zoey, Rumi and Mira, who are also in a K-pop girl group called Huntr\/x.<\/p>\n

Rumi begins losing her voice while preparing for the live performance of their new single Golden, why? Because she\u2019s secretly half demon.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a K-pop boy band called Saja Boys made up of demons keen to steal Huntr\/x\u2019s fans.<\/p>\n

The tension between the two groups plays out to a soundtrack of catchy songs and fun dance moves.<\/p>\n

In the end, Rumi accepts her half-demon heritage, gets her voice back and continues her career as a K-pop idol.<\/p>\n
