The Roosters’ Grand Final-winning team has been ripped apart days after winning the title, with five players from their top 18 gone and three others from their top 30 leaving Sydney.

The Tri-Colours confirmed the departure of at least eight members at the team’s awards dinner this week.

Angus Crichton (rugby union), Daly Cherry-Evans (Hull FC), Mark Nawaqanitawase (rugby union), Connor Watson (Dragons) and Fetalaiga Pauga (Hull FC) have all found pastures new, while Daniel Tupou has announced he has called time on an incredible career.

Jake Elliott has not been offered a new deal and has been linked heavily with the Cowboys.

Spencer Leniu is also set to exit, with news.com.au understanding he has agreed in principle to join the Eels.

It is understood he will join Parramatta on a monster four-year deal, despite having a year to run on his $850,000 Roosters contract.

Tommy Talau is the only player uncontracted whose exit has not been confirmed.

He is expected to extend his contract and be in the running for a wing spot in 2027 after both the Roosters’ starting wingers leave Bondi.

One spot is expected to be taken by new recruit, Reuben Garrick, with the other a battle between Talau, Cody Ramsey and Rex Bassingthwaite.

"NRLW

Up north, Michael Maguire has swung the axe in a major shake-up at Red Hill.

A whopping nine players will leave the 2025 NRL premiers, almost a third of their top 30 squad.

During their 2026 campaign, the Broncos became the first premiership team since 2005 to miss out on making the finals the following year, and Michael Maguire has decided to clean house.

Captain Adam Reynolds and front-rower Corey Jensen have both retired, while Grant Anderson (Warriors), Gehamat Shibasaki (Perth Bears) and Payne Haas (Rabbitohs) have signed with rivals.

Jesse Arthars will depart for the Catalans Dragons in the Super League competition.

Delouise Hoeter and Jack Gosiewski have been shown the door.

Jaiyden Hunt also got the tap on the shoulder and he will link up with Ricky Stuart at the Raiders.

The exits will free up around $3m in salary cap space. Mitchell Barnett, Dane Gagai, Jonah Pezet and Shawn Blore will move to Red Hill in 2027 in a true shake-up.

He also has confirmed that Pat Carrigan is no guarantee to be the club’s captain next season.

Despite being the stand-in captain when Adam Reynolds was absent, Maguire is also assessing whether Ben Hunt, Kotoni Staggs, Billy Walters and new recruit Barnett are better fits as club captain.
