\n\tAs revealed<\/a> in Rolling Stone\u2018s recent U2<\/a> cover story, Bono<\/a> is a huge Rosal\u00eda<\/a> fan \u2014 so huge that he wrote a song about her, \u201cThe Mirror Maker (Rosal\u00eda),\u201d for U2\u2019s upcoming album,\u00a0 Carnaval De Luz, and texted to ask her for permission. In a new interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rosal\u00eda told her side of the story. \u201cI don\u2019t know Bono,\u201d she told Jimmy Fallon. \u201cBut he texted me. And he told me that he had this new project, this new song. \u2018The Mirror Maker,\u2019 I think it\u2019s called.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe was asking me if certain words made sense,\u201d she said, including one word that sounded something like\u00a0 \u201cmamole.\u201d \u201cI was like, \u2018I never heard this word. I don\u2019t know what that means.\u2019 I did some research, and it didn\u2019t exist in standard Spanish. So I just told him, \u2018You know, I don\u2019t know, but feel free to invent your own language!’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe called the whole thing \u201cinsane\u201d and \u201cmind-blowing,\u201d noting that she grew up with U2\u2019s music. \u201cWhen I was a kid, I used to hear his songs,\u201d she said, singing a bit of \u201cWith or Without You.\u201d \u201cHe\u2019s great. He\u2019s a legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Mirror Maker (Rosal\u00eda)\u201d is the fourth track on Carnaval De Luz, U2\u2019s first album of new material in nine years, out Nov. 13. Bono told Rolling Stone that the song was a departure for the band. \u201cWe normally just write songs about people in jail or dead people,\u201d he said. \u201cYou know, dead heroes, or trying to get them out of jail. This is just celebrating somebody just because they\u2019re an extraordinary artist.\u201d He also mentioned that her 2025 instant-classic Lux<\/a> hit some of the same themes he was trying to include on U2\u2019s new album: \u201cShe\u2019s arrived at the same point just before us, which is annoying and also really inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBono called a mutual friend, Pen\u00e9lope Cruz,\u00a0 for advice about on how to get in touch. \u201cI called Pen\u00e9lope: \u2018What am I gonna do?’\u201d he said. \u201c\u2018Just call her\u2019 \u2026 I\u2019m like, \u2018I look like a stalker.’\u201d He said Rosal\u00eda has \u201cbeen really encouraging, and made me laugh a lot,\u201d and that the two have bonded over their shared love of the poet Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca.<\/p>\n

During her Tonight Show interview, Rosal\u00eda also talked about El Confesionario, the viral segment <\/a>on her sold-out, just-concluded Lux tour <\/a>where guests including Chappell Roan, Karol G, and Marcello Hern\u00e1ndez joined her onstage to make confessions before the song \u201cLa Perla.\u201d\u00a0\u201cSo many people came throughout the whole tour, and it was really amazing to hear them,\u201d she said. \u201cI just love listening to other people\u2019s stories, and it seemed like people were excited to share.\u201d <\/p>\n
