Miley Cyrus<\/a>\u2019 new album \u2018Bass Persuades\u2019<\/a> has made US chart history after suffering the biggest-ever second-week drop for an album that debuted at Number One.<\/p>\n

The singer \u2013 who now goes simply by Miley \u2013 released her 10th studio album\u00a0last week and it\u00a0entered the Billboard 200 at the summit with 61,000 equivalent album units, marking her first US Number One since 2013\u2019s \u2018Bangerz\u2019.<\/p>\n

A week later, however, it has plummeted 156 places to Number 157 \u2013 the biggest drop in Billboard 200 history for an album immediately following a Number One debut.<\/p>\n

The only\u00a0steeper falls were\u00a0Bon Jovi<\/a>\u2019s 2016 album \u2018This House Is Not For Sale\u2019, which returned to Number One in 2018 after being bundled with concert tickets, before falling to Number 169 the following week, and\u00a0Travis Scott<\/a>\u2019s 2014 mixtape \u2018Days Before Rodeo\u2019, which\u00a0hit Number One a decade after its original release, before disappearing from the Billboard 200 entirely the next week.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2018Bass Persuades\u2019 arrived on September 18 through Atlantic Records, just weeks after Miley announced the album alongside two Hollywood Bowl shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The announcement also confirmed that she would henceforth be billed simply as Miley, dropping \u2018Cyrus\u2019 from her professional name. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus later backed the change<\/a>, saying: \u201cI always called my little girl Miley. Just\u2026 Miley.\u201d<\/p>\n

The record followed 2025\u2019s \u2018Something Beautiful\u2019 and its collaborators include Model\/Actriz<\/a>, while much of the record explores her relationship with fianc\u00e9 Maxx Morando.<\/p>\n

In NME<\/a>\u2019s three-star review<\/a>, \u2018Bass Persuades\u2019 was described as \u201cleaner, more direct and more obviously built for the dancefloor\u201d than its predecessor, while retaining the \u201ceccentric streak\u201d of Miley\u2019s recent work.<\/p>\n

The review added: \u201cNot every track persuades, but nearly two decades into her recording career, Cyrus has nothing to prove and knows it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on this week\u2019s Billboard 200, Taylor Swift<\/a> returned to Number One following the release of \u2018The Life Of A Showgirl: The Encore\u2019<\/a>, while Tinashe<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Popstar\u2019<\/a> debuted at Number Six, giving her the first US Top 10 album of her career.<\/p>\n

As for Miley, she recently\u00a0shared a personal tribute to her godmother Dolly Parton<\/a>, following\u00a0her death at the age of 80<\/a>. Miley recalled that one of their final conversations had been about \u201cmusic and metamorphosis\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI have an angel by my side.
