CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown Men’s Tennis team finished singles play on day one of the ITA Regionals on Friday.<\/p>\n
James Lian<\/a>, Gautam Venkatraman<\/a>, and Justin Lin<\/a> all advanced to the main draw tomorrow to join Ivan Sodan<\/a>, Lucas Kimelman<\/a>, Robert Yang<\/a>, Elliot Wasserman<\/a>, and Tej Bhagra<\/a>, all of whom automatically qualified.\u00a0<\/p>\n In round one, Gautam Venkatraman<\/a> defeated Michael Malkin from Buffalo, 6-4, 6-4, while Justin Lin<\/a> also earned a win over Quinnipiac’s Elias Hoxha, 6-3, 6-2. Theo Murphy<\/a> added a win over Carl Sjoholm from Quinnipiac, 6-1, 6-2, and senior James Lian<\/a> edged Ivaylo Simeonov of Marist in a three-set thriller, 2-6, 6-2 (14-12). Cole Oberg<\/a> was topped by Minjae Kim from Buffalo, 6-4, 7-5, and Toby Luo<\/a> dropped his match against Fairfield’s Rodrigo Garza, 6-3, 7-6(3).<\/p>\n Round two advanced two Bears to the main draw tomorrow. Venkatraman earned a victory over Ethan Hurons from Marist, 7-6(5), 6-2, while Lin also defeated Mars Argun of Siena, 6-3, 6-2.
