All four will reprise their respective roles from the hit 2018 film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a \u2018Crazy Rich\u2019 family reunion! This series is the sequel we\u2019ve been waiting for, but instead of just one movie, we get eight episodes to delve into the characters and worlds of Kevin Kwan\u2019s brilliant books,\u201d said Adele Lim, who co-wrote the 2018 film and has been set as showrunner and executive producer for the TV series. \u201cGetting to work with the original creative team with the support and vision of HBO and Warner Bros. Television has been a dream. Our writers room is humming and we can\u2019t wait to share what we\u2019ve come up with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe series was <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/crazy-rich-asians-tv-series-max-1236323797\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/crazy-rich-asians-tv-series-max-1236323797\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">first reported to be in the works<\/a> back in early 2025. Like the film, the TV project is based on Kevin Kwan\u2019s book series of the same name. \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d was published in 2013, followed by \u201cChina Rich Girlfriend\u201d in 2015 and \u201cRich People Problems\u201d in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI am thrilled that the \u2018Crazy Rich Asians\u2019 family is getting back together thanks to HBO and Warner Bros. Chu, was a box office smash when it opened in theaters in 2018. Against a reported budget of $30 million, the film grossed over $239 million worldwide. It was also a hit with critics, with the series holding a 91% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A feature sequel had long been reported to be in development but has yet to move forward. Instead, the TV series received the greenlight at HBO. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cEight years ago, \u2018Crazy Rich Asians\u2019 changed my life, and I got to make it with the most creative and hilarious group of people I\u2019ve ever known,\u201d Chu said. \u201cSince then, this cast has become movie stars, superheroes, arena-filling performers and even an Oscar winner, so bringing everyone back together feels like coming home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe continued: \u201cIt\u2019s been incredible watching audiences make this movie part of their lives, from mahjong nights to becoming the ultimate airplane movie, and I can\u2019t wait to share what comes next.
