You could say it\u2019s the perfect song for a once-in-a-lifetime<\/a> blowhard.<\/p>\n

David Byrne<\/a>, the legendary frontman of the Talking Heads, wrote a song for Oscar-winner Alex Gibney\u2019s new documentary about Elon Musk<\/a>, called \u201cMusk\u201d\u2014 and it has quite the twist. <\/p>\n

All the lyrics of the upbeat punk-inspired track \u2014 titled \u201cLet Me Sell You a Dream\u201d and co-written with the film\u2019s composer Daniel Pemberton \u2014 are actual, verbatim quotes from the SpaceX founder himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll his own words. No editorializing. Straight from the man\u2019s mouth to mine,\u201d Byrne recently told Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m running human and imitation mode \/ I\u2019m a chill normal dude \/ I just have to keep going,\u201d Byrne sings. \u201cLet me sell you a dream \/ Do you think I\u2019m insane? \/ I eat a glass sandwich \/ I eat them every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another verse, sung after a psychedelic bridge, goes: \u201cMulti-planet exploration \/ I\u2019m a human emulation \/ I\u2019m a total simulation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Byrne explained his rationale for using Musk\u2019s quotes for lyrics on \u201cLate Night with Seth Meyers<\/a>\u201d Wednesday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want to make it a personal editorial on my behalf,\u201d Byrne told Meyers, explaining that he really wanted to get \u201cinside Elon Musk\u2019s head\u201d and examine \u201cwhat he\u2019s thinking, how he feels, what he thinks of himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I thought, \u2018OK, he has lots of really quotable quotes,\u2019\u201d Byrne said. <\/p>\n

The musician then began sourcing quotes from Gibney, his doc and the internet, and eventually realized, \u201cWell, we got lyrics right here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe puts it out there. \u2018I eat a glass sandwich, I do it every day.\u2019 I couldn\u2019t make that up! But he said it,\u201d Byrne said, referencing one of the more bonkers Musk quotes he used for his song. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This is not the first time Byrne has used someone\u2019s quotes to write a song about them, music outlet Pitchfork notes<\/a>. He used the same method for 2010\u2019s \u201cHere Lies Love,\u201d in which he pulled statements from Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos. <\/p>\n

Variety adds that the song will also be entered for best original song at the 2027 Oscars through the film\u2019s theatrical run. It would be extremely funny if it won because apparently, Musk has seen Gibney\u2019s documentary about him and doesn\u2019t seem to be a fan.<\/p>\n

Meyers did have one interesting question for Byrne during his interview Wednesday. Meyers wanted to know if Byrne thought Musk would try to \u201cget publishing\u201d on the song. <\/p>\n

\u201cDo you think he\u2019s going to be like, \u2019We both kind of co-wrote it?\u201d Meyers asked. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf he does that rather than sic his lawyers on me, I\u2019ll take it,\u201d Byrne said. <\/p>\n
