Pop star Ella Langley has come under fire after an old Facebook picture of her posing with dead animals resurfaced on social media.<\/p>\n

The country singer, who had a breakout moment this year with her chart-topping single Choosin\u2019 Texas, has shared multiple posts over the years tracing back to her pre-fame days as a hunting hobbyist in Alabama. <\/p>\n

In one Facebook photo from 2018, Langley is seen smiling as she holds the head of a dead deer, while another from 2020 shows her posing with a fresh kill alongside the caption: \u201ca wild story we\u2019ll remember forever\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a third post, Langley grips the antlers of a deer and says proudly in the caption, \u201cfinally put one down this afternoon\u201d. <\/p>\n

The posts quickly sparked backlash on social media, with scores of animal rights activists enraged by Langley\u2019s hunting trips. \u201cThat\u2019s really unfortunate, I hope she addresses it and learns from the past,\u201d one user wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s disgusting,\u201d another said, with a third adding \u201cthis is simply awful\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t a sport, it\u2019s straight up murder and blatant animal cruelty,\u201d another user said.<\/p>\n

On the opposing end, others said the posts came as no shock given Langley\u2019s upbringing in the American South, where hunting is a major cultural tradition and pastime.<\/p>\n

\u201cHad to come find this post and show it some love,\u201d one supporter wrote, while others offered their \u201ccongratulations\u201d for successful hunts or said the hobby is \u201cawesome\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cNice wholesome sport, you get to spend time with family and friends while hunting,\u201d a fan wrote.<\/p>\n

Langley has not responded to the controversy, but it\u2019s not the first time she has grabbed headlines this year. <\/p>\n

In August, she playfully responded to a viral clip<\/a> of fellow musician Doja Cat not knowing who she was by writing in her own Instagram caption: \u201cElla Langley? What is that?\u201d <\/p>\n

Also this year, Langley was the most-awarded artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. <\/p>\n
