{"id":921962,"date":"2026-10-09T15:10:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T15:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/921962\/"},"modified":"2026-10-09T15:10:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-09T15:10:13","slug":"man-charged-after-he-allegedly-unfurled-a-palestinian-flag-and-made-shooting-gestures-from-bridge-near-the-site-of-bondi-terror-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/921962\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged after he allegedly unfurled a Palestinian flag and made shooting gestures from bridge near the site of Bondi terror attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 53-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly unfurled and hung a Palestinian flag from a bridge near the site of the deadly terror attack in Bondi.<\/p>\n<p data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">NSW Police said the man was arrested after he allegedly performed offensive hand gestures which witnesses said were in the manner of gunfire.<\/p>\n<p data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">In a statement, police announced the man had been charged with\u00a0behave in offensive manner in\/near public place\/school.<\/p>\n<p data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">A witness told News24.com.au a man was holding the Palestinian flag over the side of the bridge about 3pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The most galling part was when I walked past him he made shotgun gestures with his hands off the side of the bridge,&#8221; the witness said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He did three motions of shooting a gun with his hands.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The man was refused bail and is set to appear before a bail court on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Photographs and footage obtained by News24.com.au show police escorting a man to a police vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>One officer holds the Palestinian flag in his hands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was there for at least five to seven minutes and then police arrived to speak to him,&#8221; the witness said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In total, there were at least eight officers in the vicinity.
