The Warriors still aren\u2019t sure when Kristaps Porzingis<\/a> will be able to make it back from his health issue<\/a>, writes Nick Friedell of The Athletic<\/a>. Head coach Steve Kerr said on Thursday that he doesn\u2019t have any details on Porzingis\u2019 condition and that there\u2019s no timetable for his return.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not here today,\u201d Kerr said following the team\u2019s practice. \u201cWe\u2019ve obviously been busy in Hawaii and Portland. \u2026 So, I\u2019ll reach out to KP today and check in with him, but nothing new to report.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Fridell notes, Porzingis has been impacted during the past two seasons by postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), but there has been no confirmation one way or the other about whether the health issue currently sidelining him is related to that diagnosis. Warriors officials have consistently declined to discuss Porzingis\u2019 health in specific terms since he was acquired from Atlanta at last season\u2019s trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints (Twitter video link<\/a>) hears that the Warriors are \u201cbracing\u201d for Porzingis to miss the start of the regular season.<\/p>\n

With virtually all of their starters and rotation players inactive for Wednesday\u2019s preseason game vs. Portland, the Warriors got an impressive outing from guard Brandon Williams<\/a>, who is on a non-guaranteed contract and is vying for a roster spot. Williams racked up 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting in 18 minutes of action while also contributing four assists and three rebounds. The fifth-year guard is showing he\u2019s capable of being a microwave scorer off the bench, writes Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area<\/a>, and is making a case this preseason not just for a spot on the roster but potentially a place in the rotation as well.

\nAs excited as the Warriors are about Lendeborg\u2019s potential, they want to temper expectations to some extent for the sort of impact he\u2019ll have as a rookie, Slater notes. \u201cThe nature of our league, social media and all the microscope is that they\u2019ll expect him to be a 20-8-6 guy right out the gate or whatever number you put on him,\u201d Stephen Curry<\/a> said. \u201cBut his job is to block all that out. He will know if he\u2019s impactful. He will know if he\u2019s helping win games. The stats and the numbers will follow. It\u2019s our job to protect him in that.\u201d
