A former UFC BMF titleholder did not like Ian Machado Garry\u2019s UFC 330 mindset and explained why.<\/p>\n

Garry challenged welterweight kingpin Islam Makhachev<\/a> at UFC 330, and the Irishman did a good job of defending Makhachev\u2019s takedowns and also inflicted damage on him in the clinch.<\/p>\n

However, \u201cThe Future\u201d lacked the killer instinct. He remained calm and composed throughout the fight instead of showing the urgency needed to secure a finish. <\/p>\n

In the final round, Makhachev looked gassed out, and his face was beat up. That is when fans thought Garry would do something major to turn the tide in his favor. But Garry got dragged to the canvas by the champ and controlled until the final bell, which was more than enough for the 34-year-old to cruise to a unanimous decision win.<\/p>\n

The Irishman was overly friendly with Makhachev throughout fight week and even inside the octagon<\/a>. His behavior annoyed Makhachev and UFC CEO Dana White<\/a>, among many others. <\/p>\n

Now, a former UFC BMF champion has also shared his thoughts on Ian Machado Garry\u2019s UFC 330 mindset.<\/p>\n

Jorge Masvidal speaks about where Ian Machado Garry went wrong at UFC 330<\/p>\n

Jorge Masvidal, in an interview with Jake Noecker<\/a>, said that \u201cThe Future\u201d lacked the \u201chunter\u2019s mindset,\u201d which was essential to dethrone Makhachev at UFC 330. Masvidal opined that it seemed like the Dubliner was \u201cjust happy to be in there\u201d and compete<\/a> with the Russian phenom and had no intention to \u201ckill\u201d the two-division UFC champion. \u201cGamebred\u201d also added that in a potential Makhachev vs. Garry kickboxing bout, he would \u201c100%\u201d put his money on Garry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re in there, you have to have a hunter\u2019s mindset, and Ian just didn\u2019t have that that night. Put them in a kickboxing match and 100% my money is on Ian\u2026 It just seemed like that night he was just happy to be there with Islam.\u201d<\/p>\n
