I picked up the guitar and the song sort of wrote itself.”

The single follows Smith’s second EP, Payback Is A Dog, released earlier this year. That collection followed her debut, Give Up The Fear. Between the two projects, Smith took time away in Jamaica, stepping back from her career to concentrate on her songwriting and gather new experiences. “I’ve just been living life,” she explained. “I think the whole break was just me living life and just gaining life experience to talk about.”

Raised in Brixton, Smith began writing songs and learning guitar and piano as a teenager. She attended the Brit School and ELAM before signing to Polydor in 2023 and later to Def Jam 0207.
