{"id":92290,"date":"2025-08-24T12:25:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/92290\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T12:25:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T12:25:07","slug":"wegovy-gets-fda-approval-to-treat-liver-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/92290\/","title":{"rendered":"Wegovy gets FDA approval to treat liver condition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The weight-loss drug Wegovy just got FDA approval to treat a common and serious liver condition known as MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis), adding to a long list of benefits associated with GLP-1 medications.<\/p>\n<p>\tWegovy, the once-weekly injection, was being studied for the treatment of fatty liver disease when it got the green light ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n<p>\tDr. Maria Asnis, who runs Stamford Health\u2019s Center for Weight Management, says patients on GLP-1 medications have finally been able to lose their excess weight and reverse their Type 2 Diabetes.
