George Clooney called Presley Gerber\u2019s death<\/a> last month \u201cthe worst thing that could ever happen with family\u201d in his first comments on the tragedy. <\/p>\n

\u201cQuite honestly, it\u2019s one of the most devastating things that\u2019s happened to our family,\u201d Clooney told Entertainment Tonight<\/a> at the Albies on Friday evening. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd their family is just \u2026 as you can imagine.\u201d <\/p>\n

George\u2019s wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney, stood alongside her husband as he made the heartfelt comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one of the most devastating things that\u2019s happened to our family,\u201d the actor told Entertainment Tonight. Getty Images for 11:11 Media<\/p>\n

Clooney and his wife are longtime friends with the famous family \u2014 Presley\u2019s parents are supermodel Cindy Crawford and George\u2019s business partner, Rande Gerber.<\/p>\n

Together, Rande and George co-founded tequila brand Casamigos, and their families have remained friends for decades. <\/p>\n

Presley died on Sept 20 of an apparent overdose on Sept. 20 while staying at a luxurious sober living facility <\/a>in Santa Monica, Los Angeles. <\/p>\n

He was 27 years old. <\/p>\n

A family rep told Page Six in a statement at the time that the family hoped for \u201cprivacy during this very difficult and painful time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources also told Page Six that Presley had checked into the Resolutions Living facility <\/a>the same weekend he was pronounced dead and was said to have been found in a bedroom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dispatch audio obtained by Page Six<\/a> indicated that first responders were notified of a \u201ccardiac arrest\u201d and \u201coverdose.\u201d<\/p>\n

Days later, footage surfaced of the model filming himself in the facility<\/a> in the hours before his death. <\/p>\n

George was said to have been supportive of Presley and would \u201cspend hours talking to\u201d him. Presley is seen above in an Instagram snapshot. Presley Gerber \/ Instagram<\/p>\n

An insider divulged to us that Presley had \u201cseemed off\u201d <\/a>prior to the tragedy, and a separate source explained to us<\/a> last month that Presley\u2019s only sibling, Kaia Gerber, 25, was struggling to come to terms with her older brother\u2019s death. <\/p>\n

\u201cKaia and Presley were insanely close,\u201d they told us of Presley and the \u201cShards\u201d actress. \u201cI don\u2019t know how she\u2019s going to go on without him.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a source for the Daily Mail, Kaia called Clooney \u201cUncle George,\u201d and said the \u201cO Brother, Where Art Thou\u201d actor \u201cwould spend hours talking to Presley<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cOcean\u2019s 11\u201d actor also \u201cshared loving notes like, \u2018I am here for you,\u2019 that kind of stuff,\u201d they said. <\/p>\n

They added, \u201cGeorge is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande\u2019s family.\u201d<\/p>\n

An insider told Page Six, meanwhile, that the Oscar winner is \u201ccompletely shattered<\/a> by Presley\u2019s death.\u201d They added, \u201cHe\u2019s known him his entire life, and he never imagined things would ever get to this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source insisted to us that George is \u201ccommitted to being there for Cindy and Rande, not just right now but in the months and years ahead.\u201d <\/p>\n
