Another individual was found dead in their garage with the generator on.<\/p>\n In Alabama<\/a>, two people are dead, according to that state\u2019s governor, Kay Ivey.<\/p>\n Earlier reports indicated one casualty due to a downed tree hitting a home, but details around the second death remain unknown.<\/p>\n \u201cThis storm cannot clear fast enough,\u201d Ivey wrote in a Saturday statement to social media.<\/p>\n \u201cIt brought heavy winds throughout Alabama, taking down trees, knocking out power and doing some damage. One of the people trapped in the home died, officials said.<\/p>\n This marks the second fatality over this weekend due to fallen trees resulting from the storm. The other reported death took place in Escambia county, Florida<\/a>, local officials said.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a015.00 EDT<\/p>\n The \u201csignificant damage\u201d to homes, businesses and public buildings in Monroe county, Alabama, will take days to repair, the county\u2019s emergency management agency said in a Saturday morning statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n Monroe county officials also said in a social media post there was \u201ccrippling damage to communications and power infrastructure\u201d. They added there were downed trees and power lines throughout the county with several impassable roads.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease be patient. Meanwhile, in recent hours, the number of people without power in Alabama has slightly decreased.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a012.24 EDT<\/p>\n The majority of roads in Santa Rosa county, Florida, are impassable due to \u201ctrees and\/or power lines\u201d, the county\u2019s emergency management reported on Saturday morning in a social media post<\/a>.<\/p>\n A release by the county\u2019s emergency management agency advised people not to travel \u201cunless absolutely necessary\u201d and that crews are working to clear roadways.<\/p>\n The emergency management agency also mentioned in the social media post that their website and phone lines were down, likely due to increased traffic.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a012.24 EDT<\/p>\n One person has died in Escambia county, Florida, due to the tropical storm, according to the county\u2019s sheriff, Chip W Simmons.<\/p>\n \u201cA tree fell on a house and it unfortunately took the life of a lady,\u201d Simmons said in a video<\/a> published on social media. \u201cAnd our thoughts and prayers are obviously with that family.\u201d<\/p>\n This seems to be the first death in Florida resulting from the storm. Earlier this morning, Florida governor Ron DeSantis said during an interview<\/a> with Fox News he had not yet received any reports of fatalities.<\/p>\n
