Jon Jones has accomplished almost all there is to accomplish in mixed martial arts (MMA), but the UFC legend massively regrets not competing on the UFC\u2019s recent White House card earlier this year.<\/p>\n
The UFC\u2019s Freedom 250 event back in June was one of the most hyped and historic cards in combat sports history. UFC officials were only able to host six total fights, which limited who was able to compete on the White House lawn. Almost every fighter in UFC\u2019s stable made a case to earn a spot, which included Jones.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for Jones and fight fans everywhere, UFC politics got in the way and prohibited \u201cBones\u201d from competing at the White House. First off, UFC CEO Dana White was very public about his concerns in trusting Jones to headline such an event<\/a> given his shaky past. Secondly, UFC officials weren\u2019t able to offer Jones more than $15 million<\/a> for a superfight with Alex Pereira, which is what Jones wanted all along.<\/p>\n UFC matchmakers eventually moved on from Jones and the card went down the way it did. Fight fans would have loved to see the consensus greatest UFC fighter of all time compete on such a historic card, but things simply didn\u2019t play out that way. Jones, who usually plays his emotions close to his chest, has already shown massive regret for not finding a way to fight at the White House.<\/p>\n
