\n\tHong Kong-based Cappu Films<\/a> has taken on sales beyond Australia and New Zealand for \u201cHer Last Laugh<\/a>,\u201d Joy Hopwood\u2019s Australian dramedy featuring Peter Thurnwald (\u201cXO, Kitty\u201d) and Ana Thu Nguyen (\u201cMortal Kombat II\u201d). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe finished film is being introduced to buyers at the Busan International Film Festival<\/a>\u2018s Asian Contents & Film Market.<\/p>\n

\n\tHopwood wrote, directed and produced the film. Tiana Hogben, Kya Stewart, Lyanna Kea, Tony Goh and Australia\u2019s John Waters round out the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe story centers on Willow and Annika Lim, Chinese Australian sisters who are left their late mother\u2019s casting agency with a catch attached. Unless the business turns a profit inside 12 months, it passes to their estranged uncle. With clients walking out and a competitor putting the agency\u2019s standing at risk, the siblings scramble to save both their income and what their mother built.<\/p>\n

\n\tWillow, a one-time teen star now employed as a casting assistant, carries most of the strain. Annika parks her own plans to pitch in. A budding romance, along with a set of family diaries the sisters uncover, pushes the pair to rethink their inheritance and what is worth holding onto.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Joy House Productions, the film extends Hopwood\u2019s run of stories about relationships and Chinese Australian life. Her earlier features include \u201cIt\u2019s Our Time,\u201d \u201cThe Gift That Gives,\u201d \u201cGet a Life Alright,\u201d \u201cRhapsody of Love\u201d and \u201cThe Script of Life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCappu is using the market to meet distributors and other possible partners on the title, with available rights to be confirmed on a per-territory basis.<\/p>\n
