Brendan Allen had to dig deep to secure the biggest moment of UFC Vegas 122’s main event.

The middleweight showdown took place Saturday at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, where Allen faced Christian Leroy Duncan, who entered the contest riding a five-fight winning streak. After a competitive battle, Allen secured a rear-naked choke at 2:46 of the fifth round to earn the submission victory and extend his winning streak to four.

“CLD” started aggressively and found success with his striking, but Allen countered with takedowns and clinch work. An accidental eye poke from the Brit early in the second round cost him a point, allowing Allen to seize momentum with extended ground control.

Both fighters continued trading grappling exchanges over the next two rounds, with Duncan showing resilience and briefly gaining top position. “All In” increased the pressure in the fourth before taking Duncan down in the fifth, securing back control and locking in the fight-ending choke.

The hard-fought victory strengthened the American’s position in the middleweight division, while Duncan’s resistance and the back-and-forth action gave MMA fans plenty to discuss online.

If they sort the Strickland situation out and get the Imavov fight booked, I’m betting Allen’s the back up

What a finish by Brendan Allen at #UFCVegas122. The winningest UFC fighter of the 2020s with his 15th of the decade.

CLD all time low fight IQ. Like what are you doing. How are you ranked #10 and have zero fight awareness.

Brendan Allen is only 30

He’s going to blow the record for middleweight wins out of the water.

Brendan Allen proves once and for all that he is the rightful heir to Sean Strickland’s throne as King of the UFC Apex

May his reign in the Nevada Desert Warehouse be fruitful and everlasting

3 fights ago Brendan Allen fought one of the most dangerous prospects in the division on short notice and dominated him.

Since then he has fought down in the rankings against unfavorable matchups.

He needs to be rewarded with a big time fight.

Very impressive win from Brendan Allen. Give this guy a former champion, someone with a big name. He’s been deserving of one for a good bit now. #UFCVegas122

Brendan Allen improved his professional record to 26-7, including 16-4 in the UFC, with the victory marking his fourth consecutive win. The Louisiana native has continued climbing the middleweight rankings and reiterated his desire to fight for the championship after UFC Vegas 122.

All In” called for a title shot following the main event, with former middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis also on his radar if an opportunity against the champion does not materialize. His latest win further strengthens his case for a matchup against another contender near the top of the division.
