Third strike on Yandex facilities in a week comes as Russia and Ukraine escalate attacks on tech infrastructure.<\/p>\n

A Russian data centre run by technology and AI company \u2060Yandex has been shut down after it was hit in a drone attack.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported in the attack on the facility in the city of Vladimir, east of the capital, Moscow, the company said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were at the site and several of Yandex\u2019s services were unavailable \u200cto users, the company said, as it evaluated ways to restore its systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperations at the data centre have been completely suspended,\u201d Yandex said in a service alert on Telegram, advising users to activate disaster-recovery plans as the platform operated in emergency mode.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe remaining resource configuration is considered unstable,\u201d it added, warning that technical support communications could also be disrupted as teams assessed the damage.<\/p>\n

It is the third attack on the company\u2019s data centres in the last week, as Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate attacks on each other\u2019s technology infrastructure.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Yandex, which \u2060is heavily involved \u2060in Russia\u2019s AI development and is sometimes referred to as \u201cRussia\u2019s Google\u201d, said its data centre in the Kaluga \u2060region southwest of Moscow was struck by \u2060Ukrainian drones<\/a> and partly \u2060put out of action.<\/p>\n

A day earlier, a Ukrainian attack shut down Yandex\u2019s data hub \u200cin Sasovo, southeast of Moscow, where two of the three supercomputers used \u200cto \u200cdevelop the company\u2019s AI model are housed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always respond in mirror-like fashion,\u201d Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday, following the Sasovo strike. \u201cYou all know, they have been hitting and continue to hit our data centres. We are responding. I can\u2019t share all the details.\u201d<\/p>\n
