Lance Bass claimed he was given a per diem of just $35 (A$50) a day while rising to fame with *NSYNC.<\/p>\n

The former boy-bander said during Thursday\u2019s episode of The Zach Sang Show<\/a> that \u201cOur first cheque was $10,000 (A$14,318),\u201d noting that the shockingly low amount came after \u201cyears of number one albums\u201d and \u201csellout tours.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how many millions I made off of merchandise because merchandise was insane,\u201d he recalled, reports Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bass claimed that when he and his bandmates \u2014 Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone \u2014 were \u201cfinally\u201d given a cheque for $10,000, they were told, \u201cYou should be grateful for that. You\u2019ve been working for free for two, three years now.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his current situation, Bass, now 47, claimed that while he \u201cfor sure\u201d gets residuals, \u201cit\u2019s not much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople think I\u2019m so filthy rich from *NSYNC, but no,\u201d he insisted. \u201cNot at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Bass said he \u201cdid well\u201d after the band went on hiatus in 2002 and he\u2019s \u201cvery proud of everything [he] did after that,\u201d he doubled down.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t make money with *NSYNC, like, hardly at all,\u201d he claimed of the band, which formed in 1995.<\/p>\n

Bass further alleged that though he and his bandmates didn\u2019t make a fortune from their talents, \u201cthe label\u201d and Lou Pearlman \u2014 their infamous late music manager \u2014 \u201cmade a f**k ton.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pearlman, who ultimately was jailed in 2008 after being convicted of money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, and conspiracy, died in prison in 2016.<\/p>\n

When asked if the singer carried \u201cresentment\u201d for the allegedly low earnings, he responded \u201cnot anymore\u201d \u2014 but admitted he felt he was cheated.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone kept saying, \u2018You\u2019re young, you\u2019re young,\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201cWell, who cares if you\u2019re young? You still need to make a living and set yourself up for the future because [in] most of these cases, it\u2019s a finite time of being able to do something like that, and no one set us up for life after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Bass has claimed he was short-changed during his tenure in the world-famous Bye Bye Bye group.<\/p>\n

Back in 2023, Bass called people thinking they were rich due to the band\u2019s success \u201cthe worst thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were famous, but we were not rich,\u201d he confessed during an appearance on SiriusXM\u2019s The Jess Cagle Show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made way more money after *NSYNC than I did during *NSYNC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, he said, \u201cobviously\u201d being part of the boy band at the height of its fame changed his life and trajectory.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a great support system,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m glad I was in a band, because I had four of my brothers that kept you down to earth.\u201d<\/p>\n
